The Byre
Thank you to Dianne and Rod for allowing us to stay in your lovely Byre which is a warm, cosy cottage, kitted out with everything you need for a great holiday. Thank you for the tasty surprises too. The location is great for exploring the Cairngorms in particular the fantastic wildlife.We were so pleased to see a Red Squirrel feeding in the garden. This is our 2nd stay with Where Stags Roar and we look forward to our next visit.

Very comfortable,very warm cottage. Lovely to come home to after a day's walking in the hills. Loved the open plan living room with woodburner. Very well equipped kitchen. Hopefully we will be back.

My wife and I stayed at the Byre with our German Shepherd Bertie for our honeymoon in February. This is our 2nd time staying at one of Dianne & Rods properties having previously stayed at the Bakehouse in 2020 & was actually on that trip that we got engaged, so we were very happy to book with them again for the honeymoon and we weren't disappointed! The Byre is a stunning property and the facilities are of a very high quality. We were lucky enough to get some snow and the view from the bar & balcony over the golf course was worth the booking alone! The log burner was also a life saver and there is a very generous supply of fuel provided by the owners. There is a secure garden which was great for our dog but you could walk straight out of the door onto the golf course where he loved playing in the snow.Dianne and Rod are very helpful with any questions you may have. They also kindly left us a bottle of bubbly as a welcome gift for our honeymoon which was a very nice touch. We had previously booked through cottages.com but went direct on this occasion and would recommend doing so and hope to be coming back in the future to stay at this or another of their properties. This was our 3rd stay within Newtonmore and we love the village and the wider area as a whole. Can't recommend enough!

The Byre is a fabulous place to stay. It has been very well appointed which makes for a comfortable stay. Lots of walks on the doorstep which was great for our dog. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic place to stay in the highlands, whilst right in the heart of Newtonmore with length of amenities, surprisingly quiet and the red squirrels at the window made it feel far more remote. The house is decorated to a high standard and was very clean. Lots of lovely touches to welcome you and owner was very responsive and accommodating, such as supplying a high chair and travel cot. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

The Byre is a truly lovely place to stay, with Rod and Dianne being very friendly hosts who have thought of every detail for their guests! It is located just off of the main road, so is convenient for walking the town and trails, and has spacious and private parking. Newtonmore is a peaceful place to stay, yet has access to so much within a reasonable drive. Our time in this area of Scotland was wonderful on its own, but was made even more so having such a cozy, comfortable, and exceptionally clean place to begin our day in and return to at the end of our day.

We had another wonderful stay at The Byre with our friends. The house is so cosy and comfortable and very well equipped, a real home from home.A wonderful warm welcome in the form of a local tipple and a lovely surprise having the Christmas tree and decorations, it was beautiful!Loved watching the red squirrel feed from the box and a real variety of birds too, all from the comfort of the livingroom. Even seen a hawk!Excellent communication from Dianne and Rod. Brilliant hosts.We’ve already booked our stay for next year!

The Byre is a stunning property in the heart of the village with fantastic views and accessible to all the main attractions in the area. We have stayed in Rod and Diane's properties previously and The Byre is just the most fabulous, comfortable, cosy, warm and incredibly well equipped. We absolutely did not want to leave and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We had a 2 night stay at The Bakehouse in October 2023 and it was an absolute gem of a place. So cosy, very clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated and such a lot of hygge! It was perfect for myself and my friend (who utilised the extra bed / sofa) and a wonderful place to come back to after a day walking. Highly recommend. I am sure our family with 2 dogs will make a trip to some more of the Where Stags Roar properties sometime very soon.

Had the pleasure of staying at The Byre for a long weekend with friends mid May. Fabulous place!! Spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need to hand. Comfy beds & well appointed bathrooms. Super location for exploring the surrounding area. Lovely touches throughout not to mention the welcome “dram”. Good restaurants within walking distance too. Super helpful hosts. Will most definitely return.
