Hampshire's Hidden Gardens, a wonderful day walking the gardens, taking in the views, absorbing the atmosphere and enjoying the peace and quiet plus a Steam Train ride to cap it all off... A wonderful day indeed

Very nicely kept, lots to explore, spent a couple of hours just wandering the various paths, was able to pretty much avoid bumping into others even though it was a busy morning as it’s quite big with lots of different routes. Knocked off a star as though the gift shop was quite disappointing, quite generic offering, didn’t look worth it, a lot of Autumn/halloween stock (it’s mid October so I get it) but seems they have sacrificed a chance to sell some decent things in favour if some tacky time-restricted fluff, was hoping for more. We also wanted to visit the cafe as it was lunch time when we were about to leave but it was so over crowded with buggies and screaming kids it was really off putting so went elsewhere. Apart from that it was good.

Exbury is one of my favourite places to visit. Never feels busy as it's so vast. Also it's perfect for my toddler to stretch her legs (I avoid the ponds for obvious reasons when I bring her but still plenty of ground to cover). I especially love the ancient trees dispersed across the grounds. If I had to make a minor suggestion, the benches throughout the gardens would benefit from a treatment/paint during the winter period when it's closed. We visited yesterday (16th September) and the benches, tables and chairs were looking very shabby. Other than that, highly recommend a visit.

Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. From the moment we stepped foot inside we were amazed by the sheer beauty and tranquility that surrounded us.The gardens themselves are simply breathtaking with an abundance of vibrant flowers carefully manicured lawns and enchanting pathways that lead you on an adventure through different themed areas. What truly sets Exbury Gardens apart is the added bonus of the Steam Railway. We hopped on board the beautifully restored carriages and chugged along the tracks taking in the picturesque views of the gardens from a unique perspective. The rhythmic sounds of the steam engine added an extra touch of nostalgia and made the experience even more special. One visit to Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway is simply not enough to fully appreciate all that it has to offer. With over 200 acres of stunning landscapes and a myriad of different plants and flowers there is always something new to discover. Whether you are a nature enthusiast a photography lover or simply looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life Exbury Gardens is the place to be.The staff at Exbury Gardens were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable offering insights and information about the various plant species and the history of the gardens. Their passion for the place was evident and it made our visit all the more enjoyable. We can't wait to return to Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway. There is no doubt that we will be back eager to explore new corners of the gardens and take another ride on the steam train. What a beautiful place this is! I spent 2 and a half hours walking around the gardens but could have easily explored more so you definitely get your money's worth. I visited on a Monday on a slightly rainy day so it wasn't very busy at all but the gardens still looked amazing. I can only imagine how lovely it looks on a sunny day. Will definitely be back.

Excellent variety of flora across multiple garden types with frequent maps to help reorientate you. Many miles of walking routes to enjoy including estuary views out as far as the Isle of Wight. Good quality cafe food and service.

We visited today. Had a fantastic time even better than last year. A particular mention to the elves on the train (all 5 of them). Amazing performance. We will be back next year (can’t wait)

What a beautiful place. We visited on a drizzly day, but the magnificence of the gardens was still stunning, and the scents from the plants and trees even more heady as a result of the rain. The cafe is good, the parking is free, and the steam train was fun.

The most beautiful garden we have ever been! It's feels like enchanted forest! The steam train is so much fun for both kids and adults. We have only managed to walk 1/3 the park and already amazed how beautiful it is. Will definitely come back on autumn time to see the seasons change.
