The food was very good but the service was non existent need lots more staff. Felt really sorry for the youngster who was serving the meals as she was run off her feet. She earns 5 stars along with the one lady serving behind the bar.

Stayed at the Premier Inn adjacent to this pub and used it for meals. Firstly, have to say that the quality of the food was very good. However, so many things could be improved. To turn up at any restaurant and be told to take a table and order at the bar isn't really acceptable these days. Especially when there is only one person behind the bar who is taking food orders and drinks orders at the same till. Big queue on both nights we were there which lasted all night.Having waited in queue and ordered food and drinks we were happy enough to be served starters after about 20 minutes. However, we then had to wait around 45 minutes for main course to arrive. This was even more annoying when several tables who had arrived later than us were served their mains (including one table of around 10 customers. This was brought to the attention of the servers several times with no reaction. When food eventually arrived, the quality was very good to be fair, but having waited so long really spoiled the evening. To be fair, after complaining at the bar, one of the senior staff offered a refund of some of the cost which was gratefully received. However the overall experience was so disappointing that we would be very reluctant to eat here again.

This is a good place to eat if you’re staying in the Premier Inn next door, and don’t fancy spending too much or making the trip into Cockermouth after a busy day. I found the tables to be well distanced from each other and I liked that the restaurant was generally quite quiet. The food is inexpensive for what it is. The meat is nice, especially the mixed grill. The chips had obviously come from frozen, but the sweet potato fries were nice. The vegan burger was passable, and the drinks were cheap. The side salad didn’t look great though. They also do refillable soft drinks which is good. Unfortunately they are suffering from a lot of supply chain issues. Because of this, large portions of the menu were listed as being unavailable. And, even when you chose something listed as being available, they sometimes weren’t available. This is disappointing. However, I’d recommend the cookie s’mores dessert and the lasagne, as they were relatively tasty.

Breakfast was slow and cold, and tasted like it had been heated in the microwave. There were only 2 girls working, they were lovely and worked really hard.Dinner was much better less crowded but more staff.

Just been reading latest reviews on this Brewers Fayre and I'm surprised. I personally couldn't fault it when we visited 2 weeks ago. Friendly staff from been show to our table, bar staff and waiting on staff, especially the kitchen staff, who plated my food that made it look as though it wasn't thrown from one end of the kitchen to the other before landing on the plate, so thank you each and everyone of you. Yes you was busy, rally car meeting, so a couple of large parties plus smaller groups, but service was quick and VERY welcoming. Thank you

Not sure family 'friendly' is the way to describe this place. We were staying nearby, and been here previously. We hadn't booked this time so turned up to be told that there were no tables for 45 minutes. We went to our car, had a think about what to do, then looked at the website to see if we could book.We booked for 7.15.We returned to the restaurant to be told, in front of a number of customers standing in a long queue, that we wouldn't be served because we had been in then booked online. The person (we think manager despite his unprofessional attitude) then laughed at my husband, who then got a little upset. The manager person then told my husband that he finishes at eleven if he wants to sort it out then. Please don't visit here, due to long queues, unprofessional service and threats to customers. When we said that we would report this to head office, he said that they would just laugh at us!I have just read a comment from the owner stating 'No booking, no problem, our doors are open any time for any occasion. So come on in and see what we've got cooking'.Maybe they are cooking up a punch up in the carpark, care of the manager!

We didn't book a table so left it to chance. The excellent staff managed to find us a table with 30 minutes wait. The venue seemed a little short staffed however the two ladies working never stopped and whatever they are paid its bit enough. The only downside was the extra long wait for food to be served.

The food is ok value for money. Its standard food , you know what you are getting. Deep fryer in action ,food from the freezer, so no complaints ,if you choose to eat here. Drinks very reasonably priced. Its very spacious and a nice tidy beer garden which is dog friendly. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

TERRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE. It's time Brewers Fayre offered something better than a 12 o'clock opening of their restaurant for Lunch. We were there quite promptly for said 12 o'clock and ordered accordingly yet it was well past 12.30 when the meal eventually arrived. We ordered a very popular menu choice which, in my opinion, they should have been prepared for and to have been able to send out quickly. Yet, when it arrived, the first thing into my mouth was a complete disappointment. The offending piece was a cold chip, and I do mean cold. The rest of the chips weren't much better. As if that wasn't bad enough, the next table over were a complete nightmare and also helped to ruin our meal experience. They showed a total lack of care and respect for the place and for its diners. G/grandparents, a grandma and one child. The biggest problem person was the G/grandfather who acted with a total lack of etiquette, noisy and boorish.Totalled together, a TERRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE and we don't intend to go back.
