Medivet South Harrow

We have had rather below average experiences with different Medivet clinics however the South Harrow clinic has been amazing so far. Very easy to get hold of them over the phone, we haven't experienced excessively long wait times. The vet we had was also very good at explaining everything to my grandparents so they understood everything.

I'm not very happy with the care of my cat to be honest. I've had to take my boy Zhang here twice over the past couple months and both times, when I called I was able to get a same day appointment which is great but I have found the care he has been given has been very overpriced and a tad lackluster.The first time I took my boy to the vet he had a large cut on his tummy, and I was very worried about him. The lady vet Nicola Wong was very nice but insisted that I get a spot-on ear mite treatment at the cost of £42 and as I was very anxious I gave in, just to find out if I had got this treatment myself it would have been more than half the price.Today when I took him in for an infected lesion behind his ear, Dr Wong was again lovely but I don't know if she practiced the best care. She picked the scab off his ear which had been forming for the past few days, causing his ear to bleed again, even though if she had just asked me questions I could have answered without causing him more pain. After the previous appointment, I decided to ask if I could get a prescription for painkillers which I could then fulfil somewhere else at a cheaper price and she obliged, however there was a 'prescription charge' of £20 for a printed out piece of paper. On further investigation, if I had bought the painkiller at the vet I would have paid £38 for 5ml as opposed to £6 for 15ml at many online veterinary pharmacies.I'm very disappointed with the markup that they are charging customers who are worried about their pets, especially being pushy about expensive and unnecessary treatments in times of emergency. Everyone in the vets is really nice, especially the receptionist (I forget her name!) but I don't feel like quality of care has been assured for my cat.

Update on previous review as I had only been to this vets once at that point (and it was already 5 stars). Nicola (apologies if misspelt) always makes me feel very comfortable leaving my boys in her care. This is a vet that really cares and always gives you far more detail than most vets do. She is extremely knowledgable and compassionate. The later of which is actually hard to find in a vet. If you have a dog that is terrified of vets, Nicola will do everything to make them comfortable. I am moving in a couple of weeks but I will still be bringing my boys here.

The veterinarians and technicians handled my furry friend with love and gentleness. They took the time to thoroughly examine my puppy and explain the necessary procedures or treatments. Their expertise and professionalism were evident, and it reassured me that my puppy was in good hands.One aspect that particularly impressed me was the punctuality of my appointment. They respected my time and ensured that I was seen promptly. This level of efficiency made the entire experience even more pleasant and convenient.Overall, I highly recommend this veterinary clinic. The friendly and caring staff, combined with the exceptional service and punctuality, create an environment that is both professional and compassionate. I am grateful for the quality care they provided to my puppy.

We chose this practice for our new rescue cat this year due to its excellent reviews and we’re very pleased we did. Everyone at the practice clearly cares so much for the animals they are looking after. Nicola is a brilliant and knowledgeable vet and has been fantastic with our boy who arrived with a long term condition we weren’t aware of that isn’t covered by our insurance as it’s pre-existing. She’s been completely up front about treatments that could be recommended but are highly unlikely to work and expensive. We had some reasonably costly tests done but again she was not at all pushy, explained the benefits and limitations and the decision whether to go ahead was entirely ours. She’s followed up with us by telephone a few times and always patiently answers all my questions and is so helpful. I’m not sure Richard is going to forgive her for saying he had ‘rolls’ today when discussing his weight though!

This is the most friendly and professional vet I've been to. My dog and cat has been well cared for here and they haven't let me down with prompt treatment and friend staff.Nicola in particular has been so helpful in treating my pets and even our nervous dog is excited to come and get treats from the reception staff and nurses.Highly recommended!

We have been with Medivet for over a year as my cat has diabetes. The staff is very friendly here. They do care about pets' health, and they are always happy to answer questions and are very helpful. I strongly recommend them

I have been coming here with my cat for the past 4 years and am always greeted by helpful and friendly faces. Nicola (the vet) is very knowledgeable and really cares about both her patients and clients. The consults never feel rushed as she takes time to listen to any concerns you have about your pet before thourougly checking them over whilst explaining everything. Despite being really busy, the team are always happy to help and when we had an emergency, they squeezed us in and got us seen as soon as possible. With the healthcare plan they offer, my cat's vaccines, flea+worm treatments are always up to date. You get sent reminders when they're due and just need to phone up to get an appointment.Highly recommend this practice and really appreciate all the efforts of the staff!
