we stopped there for a weekend break. the whole experience from check in to check out was excellent.the room was clean and adequate, the food and service was quick and well presented, the price was reasonable and the staff couldn't do enough to make our stay a pleasure.the karaoke on the friday night wasnt a problem and although there was a little bit of noise from people leaving at the end of the night, they dispersed quite quickly.the building being old has a few quirks but it is what it is.we would definitely stay there again and recommend it as a place to stay.

Lovely location , was offered the family room at a reduced rate the room was very old fashioned but clean ! I now know why we were offered the reduced rate was woken up at 3 am and 5 and 5.30 to scurrying noises and scratching rats must be under the floor boards absolutely petrified brushed our teeth abd was out of there lively shame as nice pub nice atmosphere met the owner nice guy bar staff were moody not welcoming

Stopped in for some lunch and watch football on TV.Friendly staff and atmosphere. Plenty of seating spread throughout and also plenty of tables in the sun out front.Plenty of on street parking nearby for the main street

I stopped at the George and Dragon for lunch and ordered a pint of Guinness which was nice. Then I ordered a starter and main which sadly both came out at the same time so by the time I had finished the starter (which was bland) the main was cold. I was asked by two members of staff if everything was okay, and I said not really as why have I got my main with my starter and the first member of staff replied the kitchen told us to bring them at the same time! then five minutes later a second member of staff asked if everything is okay and I said the start was okay but now my main is cold because been sitting here while I had my starter to which the reply was.”Oh” and then he just walked off. Sadly I cannot recommend this pub as it was well below average food and the staff were very unwilling to rectify their mistake.. Very disappointed I drove past McDonald’s to go to this rubbish pub.

Upon arriving at the G&D the staff were welcoming. We had to walk through a Marquee at the rear of the pub which in the heavy rain was leaking as you walked through. The stairs up to our room were wonky and steep. Quite dangerous for children or older/unsteady adults. The room was presented well overall however, there was a step up into the en suite bathroom which reduced the space in the, already short, doorway. My dad (aged 74) hit his head on the way into the bathroom about 4/5 times. There was no sign to say 'Mind your head' or foam on the skirting to protect anyone above 5ft 5in in height. The annex room off of the main bedroom was, again, presented well but when I went to plug in my phone charger someone had broken of a plug pin in the socket and I had to fish it out with some tweezers to make it usable. The TV remote was missing (which should have been checked before we arrived) so the host spent 40 minutes or more searching for another remote that worked. Once he found one it was a universal remote which didn't work properly or allow use of all the TV features such as the guide, reminders, programming etc. The signal on the TV was also poor and kept fuzzing over and cutting out. The subtitles were also stuck on and we couldn't turn them off. When we went to make a cup of tea/coffee the cups were dirty and had acquired a dirty ring around the top from the filthy tray they were laid out on. Also, considering it was a family room and children were booked in, there were no Hot Chocolate on the tray until after we went to dinner and requested a coffee and milk refill because there wasn't enough for more than 1 drink per adult. Finally, and possibly most importantly, the pub downstairs, directly below had Karaoke on the Friday night and a live band on saturday night. For a family room this was totally unacceptable. I had a 9 year old and 5 year old sharing a sofa bed directly above and they couldn't get to sleep until gone 11pm. Come Saturday I was angry so spoke to the manager. He advised that the website states they have live music on the first weekend of every month. I explained that not only was that information not obvious on the website, it should have been made very clear on the website and when booking it should have been put in the booking confirmation email. Had we known and it be made clear, we would not have booked to stay here. I also informed the owner that he should not let out the family room to a family on the first weekend of each month because they are bound to have children in the room. The music was unnecessarily loud and we could hear every word and song sung. Absolutely disgraceful!!!To top it all off my brand new phone charger went missing out of the annex room. When I contacted the G&D to ask them to look for it or see if staff had put it up safely somewhere I had absolutely no response from them. So either they don't care, didn't bother looking or a member of staff stole it from my room.Needless to say, we will not ever be staying at the G&D again.

We were here celebrating a friends 40th birthday. The food was good, the room was lovely but the staff made it so much better! It felt like a home from home, would happily visit again!

OK for the money, small room and quite noisy from bar music. Nice old building and good breakfast. Easy car parking and easy to find

Spacious room and good shower. Friendly front of house. Unfortunately we had food in our sink, which had to be cleaned out. The mugs and spoons were dirty. There was no remote for the TV. The room was very hot, even with the windows open. The downstairs karaoke lasted until 11.30pm, followed by noisy patrons congregating outside the bedroom window until midnight.

A Very Very Disappointing Sunday Carvery. Will not be recommending this to anyone.Staff were also very un-attentive despite not a huge amount of people in the pub or restaurant.I had the beef and it tasted so salty. The veg was over cooked apart from the roast potatoes which were under cooked. My partner had the Gamon which again was very salty. The Cauliflower Cheese had very little flavor and was gloopy and was more like wallpaper paste. All the meats on the Carvery were cut using the same Carvery knife so basic food hygiene of cutting Turkey, Beef, Gamon, and Pork were not followed which is why I think the beef I had was salty and didn't taste good. The gravy was lump and again too salty. The only good thing was the Yorkshire Puddings which were very nice.Little signs up on the Carvery to help Identify what Gravy was what and what table sauces were what, the staff clearly were not interested in helping. On leaving to pay we was stood waiting at the bar.Whilst staff walked past saying I'll be with you soon, whilst they went round and collected up empty glasses from vacant tables. This level of customer service was simply unsatisfactory. Leaving a customer standing at the bar waiting to pay whilst you 3 staff walk round collecting glasses is just not on.I definitely would not be eating a carvery here again.
