Roundthorn Country House

We had our wedding at Roundthorn Country House in July 2023.From the beginning, our wedding co-ordinator Anouska was friendly, supportive and helpful with all of the wedding planning for our day. She was very responsive to any questions and made us feel at ease.The venue itself is beautiful. We were lucky enough to have good weather to have the ceremony outside which was beautiful. All of the food and wine was top quality and the atmosphere created by their recommended DJ Touch of Class was great. The rooms were clean, very comfortable and had everything we needed.Id recommend this beautiful venue to anyone!

Absolutely stunning hotel with gorgeous views from the room. Good choices available at breakfast, staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were extremely satisfied with all aspects of our stay at this lovely hotel. We were unexpectedly visiting family in Penrith at short notice and when I spoke to the staff at Roundthorn prior to booking they were very helpful in giving us some flexibility over the number of nights we needed.On arrival we were given an apartment in the mews which was spacious and had beautiful views and incorporated its own furnished patio.The service was impecable, and the breakfast excellent.We would certainly recommend and return.

This is an excellent place to stopover, whilst travelling North or South. The location of Penrith is obviously good, but the hotel is just outside the town, yet only about 5 minutes by car, away from the centre. Therefore the hotel has the ability to be peaceful and quiet, but with all the facilities of the town beside you. The rooms are well furnished, some are really well furnished and none (so far) have been a bit of a squeeze" to walk round.As you would expect when going to the North of England the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3nights in May and really enjoyed it. Our room was small but perfectly adequate. The food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service. There was never a long wait for it to arrive and we were never felt rushed.The staff were all very friendly and always happy to help. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a quiet base for the North Lakes.

I was providing a magic mirror photo booth and close up magic for a wedding at this venue and thought the staff and venue were excellent.Fairly easy access for my equipment too....and the staff were friendly and always smiling even while under pressure.Would thoroughly recommend for your next wedding or other function.

A beautiful hotel with the most amazing staff. Very accommodating and wonderful with the little one. Changed our room to give us more peace due to a wedding being on. The food here is absolutely delicious. We try to stay here whenever we go to the Lake District.

Myself and my Husband got married on the 8th July 2023. We had our ceremony in a church and Roundthorn as our reception venue.The team at Roundthorn were fantastic from start to finish. They were organised and so helpful through planning our wedding. Always available to offer advice and reassurance and nothing was a problem.On the day, I could not fault how professional they were. As soon as we arrived at the venue, there were 2 chilled glasses of prossecco waiting for us. The staff were so cheerful and lovely whilst dishing out the canapes to our guests. They even noticed that myself and my husband weren't getting a chance to have any due to photos, and saved us some. When we walked into the Cumbrian Suite for our wedding breakfast, it took my breath away. It was beautifully decorated.The wedding breakfast was unbelievably tasty. All our guests complimented the food. Roundthorn did a fantastic job of catering for some of our guests that had dietary requirements.Roundthorn were happy for us to have a band play alongside their in house DJ - Touch Of Class, who were fantastic! Touch of Class finished our night off in the best way, and even played all the songs I had requested before the wedding.The venue its self is set with such stunning surroundings! If your after a country style wedding, this is defiantly the place, but it would defiantly fit any style wedding you wished. The rooms were lovely to stay in too.Our wedding wouldn't have been as perfect anywhere else! Thank you to the team at Roundthorn xx
