Contacted these guys (Billie, Russ and Dean) because they are conveniently close to me, and I want someone who knows what they’re doing as I’ve got a Brazilian T2 splittie, but I’d recommend sending your Kombi from anywhere for work. Ended up with almost an engine rebuild and replacement components all at reasonable prices with amazing attention to detail and progress pics that shame almost every other garage I’ve dealt with. Looking forward to getting my bodywork some TLC next!!

Purchased Tallulah from Billy at G'Day Kombis 4 years ago. Many miles later we are happier than ever with our Purchase. Ours was a fully restored Bay 2 from South Africa. The quality of work really is second to none and she came with some modern touches like power steering, uprated brakes and lowered suspension etc. On the odd occasion we have needed advice Billy is always willing to help.There are cheaper ways to get your hands on one of these classics but you get what you pay for and these really are the best you can buy and worth every penny.

I initially chose Gday Kombis based on extensive research of VW Camper specialists.This review comes after +1 year of top quality service which included:1. Services x2 & 1 MoT and remediation>Top quality products sourced & modified (where required) and identified future potential failures and fixed them proactively.>They provided photo's & videos of required changes with a full explanation and any decisions I had to make.>A lot of work as a non-standard converted van: Especially around the brakes, which has been transformational, improving the pedal travel and response.>Steering column fixes, tightening & alignment>Tips on looking after aspects of the van provided too.>Each service provided notable performance improvements.2. Upgrades & Updates:>New stereo & Front Door Speakers fitted>Fixed the petrol heater>Fitted Jump Starter Cable (needed customisation)3. Urgent Repair Fix.Following a breakdown recovery on the way to a camping trip just before bank holiday. My battery drained as soon as the lights went on. The van was towed to the workshop at night and an email with the details sent pleading for help.The next morning when I called, I cannot express my shock when they stopped my explanation, to tell me they received my email. Fixed the problem and would have a new battery within the hour and would be able to continue on my trip.Russ & Dean and Billy literally came to the rescue.4. Advisory Sessions ~3-4The van was bought as a project and a view to renovate over time. Gday Kombis have provided their expertise, specific to the van, budget and process to formulate a realistic plan to achieve this goal.Having seen their other completed projects around the workshop I am confident the end result will be incredible.---------------------------------------------To deal with; the team are personable and responsive however, I am cognisant that they are heavily in demand, and plan any work required in advance. My recommendation would be to do the same to avoid disappointment.One of my better life choices.

Helpful staff, completely honest and open about all things VW, which we appreciated, giving us the confidence to buy our dream van. Throughout our van's preparation prior to taking delivery, we were given step by step feedback on all works carried out including before-and-after photos. I was really impressed with their in depth expert knowledge about all aspects of type 2 campers. That was from the first moment I spoke to them through to work being completed.They really are exceptionally helpful, and go the extra mile to ensure you go away happy.They gave me confidence that their advice was the right way to go by explaining everything with photographs and expert knowledge.The business owner, Billy, has a great range of knowledge and expertise, and is friendly and easy to discuss options with.The engineers we dealt with were Russ and Dean. Both were incredibly helpful right through from their initial look at the van, to their detailed inspection, and subsequent advice. They did all the work requested and I didn't feel unduly pressured to get work done that I wasn't expecting.All in all, a very positive experience, and I would be happy to recommend these experts to anyone.

In the 15 years that I’ve owned my van, I always had a good experience with Vw air cool specialist, but I have to say that GDay Kombis go the extra mile and I wished I used their services much earlier.I booked my van in for a major oil leak. The problems were quickly found, the engine was removed and stripped down possible for the first time in 44 years. Before it was reassembled with new Barrels and pistons, the heads decoke, and new oil seals all around, plus the engine was fully cleaned and even painted. Whilst the engine was out, the fuel filler and tank seals were changed to be E10 ethanol safe.Everything was well documented with clear explanation and photos of the work needed, and the information/photos continued until the job was completed.I have just come back from a 2-week camping trip around France with the van, with absolutely no issues, with the bonus of not needing to top up the oil. We have recently bought a beautiful T2 1979 Devon Mooraker from Gday Kombis.The service from start to finish was outstanding and filled us with alot of confidence when purchasing our first campervan.Billy and his team know absolutely everything there is to know about VW campervans. They advise you to do what is best for the campervan, whether that is externally or internally.They definitely do not cut corners and the love and enthusiasm they have for your van makes you feel very confident that it is in good hands.The communication via email with Billy is fantastic. He responds straight away with any questions or queries.If you are thinking about purchasing a camper, look no further. You will have absolutly no regrets with buying from Gday Kombis. We have already taken our van out on a few camping trips. Everyone we meet is so impressed with the condition of our van and that is all down to the team at Gday Kombis.We will be using them for years to come to service and MOT our van.5 stars from us!

We bought Bertie the Bus from Gday in April 2023. He was beautifully prepped when we picked him up, serviced, MOT'd and with a few extra new bits added and no extra cost. In addition, they included the first service and sorting out a teeny bit of rust whilst in storage next winter.On top of that, there was a comprehensive 12 month warranty. This was just as well as in the first couple of months, while we were building mileage/confidence, we had a few breakdowns (or refusals to start). The guys a Gday were brilliant though and clearly gutted that we were having issues. Not only did they react instantly, without any quibble, but they fitted brand new and, where possible better, replacement parts, covering all bases and making sure the issues would not be repeated.We now have real confidence when we set off on a trip that Bertie will not faulter. He is lovely to drive, as well as to look at, and draws admiring looks from all ages of people wherever he goes.There may be a bit of a premium when buying from Gday but it's well worth the money. You know you are getting a really good camper and that any issues that emerge (inevitable occasionally with a 45 year old vehicle) will be fixed really quickly and without argument. They care about all their vans and really want their customers to enjoy and love them.

After checking all of the alternative suppliers of rebuilt/refurbed/restored VW buses - we chose Billy & his team at G'day Kombis & are so pleased we did! 'Riley' is coming up to 4 years 'old' now following his transformation from a '74 South African import.Billy & the team's advice & ongoing support has been invaluable during the past 4 years & we've already had so many great adventures including an epic 3-week tour of the Scottish 'North Coast 500' last Autumn with Riley handling everything the extreme Highlands could throw at him!Here's to many more years of happy & reliable touring with G'day Kombis!
