Coniston Water
A beautiful lake in the Lake District. I've visited many lakes but always come back to coniston. The weather can be alittle unpredictable if you visit out of the summer season. Coniston Village has a number of good pubs and the local area has many nice walks. Dogs are welcomed in most shops, pubs and restaurants. The lake its self can be swam in. Many visitors use Paddle boards, Kayaks and Boats. They can also be rented from the sports center next to the Bluebird Cafe.

Lovely lake with Cafe and boat hire. Some parking and close to multiple campsites. All money from boat hire goes to national trust too which is a nice bonus!

My first trip to Coniston Water was with a School trip in Primary School. Was such a fun time, and remembered Yvonne (pupil) getting stuck in a bog when she wandered off. Highlight, seeing Peel Island in the sunset. Years later, went again with my hubby and was thrilled to relive the beauty of this area.

A beautiful lake. There seems to be lots to do here, we saw people walking, biking, kayaking, sailing, rowing, paddling and even swimming. We went there to take some photos but after an hour the kids got restless which cut our picture taking short. I am certain we will be back another day. Our visit was pre-covid.

Love coming here, the Bluebird cafe do a gorgeous sausage bun. The dairy free latte is top quality too. There’s a few small car parks along the lake, some great places for photos. The car park at Coniston has clean toilets, and is reasonably priced to park for a few hours. It’s a far quieter lake than Windermere , and some great walks and views if you look for them.

The 3rd largest lake in Cumbria.Graveyard of Donald Campbell from 1967 until2001. This lake has it's history. A visit from the Grand Tour trio in 2017, in the Bond bug.Other than the history, this majestic lake is certainly worth a visit, it is beautiful as it is vast.

Whatever the season Coniston Water is beautiful. Its long majesty forever overlooked by the ‘Old Man’ has inspired those both wanting to go very fast and very slow. Its fabulous for a paddle, a hike or simply a sit to watch the world go by. In the summer a great place to cool off from the midday sun. In the early morning it’s like a mirror reflecting the beauty of the heavens above. One of the perfect places.
