A beautiful walk to the lake. It is a magical place. I am a fan of Merlin. So this lake was used as the lake of Avalon. Had a lovely time.

Lovely scenery. Quiet and peaceful (most of the time). Lots of dogs off their leads tho. People throwing sticks into the lake for their dogs while anglers are trying to fish.. and not respecting the local wildlife very much.

Loved the walk and beautiful scenery. Lots of wildlife about. Peaceful and friendly walkers and dog walkers for the most part. Slightly spoiled by a car driving at speed down the public footpath to the lakeside fishing point, where there was a lot of litter. It was a family out for a picnic, not fishing. There was also a site near the fishing stage where someone had stayed overnight, leaving a makeshift shelter, firepit and piles of litter and toilet paper. Shame some people are so selfish.

Great fishing spot, has some good carp and its fishable on a day ticket available from forest tackle in Lydney for £5 or £10 on the bank. Its also available as a season ticket together with Cannop 1 & 2 at £30 for the year. Its owned by Yorkley AC and their season tickets are available at forest tackle in lydney.

A relatively short stroll from Speech House hotel on the main road, if you want refreshments (or mobility scooter hire - book in advance), but you can park closer in the forest if you want to. A pleasant area to see the lake wildlife and stroll round.

Lovey local beauty spot with lakes light that is very impressive both sides are worth a look and reaxing walks
