Lovely place to visit for a walk but beware there is no mobile signal so you can't pay to park using Ringo. The parking machines don't take cards

Chew Valley Lake
Beautiful place to visit and wander along the 2.7 kilometre path that meanders it's way around the north shore of the man-made lake. There's an enclosed play area to keep small children entertained and plenty of benches to just sit and watch the world go by.You'll find a pleasant cafe (if a bit on the expensive side). Plus you will find several little picnic areas and numberous rubbish bins. The public toilets are free to use, but could do with a good clean. (This may simply be down to the high footfall). The parking is free to blue badge holders. For everyone else it's a standard rate of £2.20 for all day.All precautions are taken regarding Covid-19, but unfortunately not everyone is respecting the advice notices, (such is life).(24/4/22).

This is a beautiful and tranquil place to enjoy the outdoors. It is a great place to relax and unwind, or to get some exercise. The lake is also a great place to learn about wildlife and nature. The Lake is a beautiful reservoir and the fifth-largest artificial lake in the UK, with an area of 1,200 acres (4.9 km2). The lake was created in the early 1950s and was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1956. It provides much of the drinking water for the city of Bristol and surrounding area, taking its supply from the Mendip Hills. Some of the lake water is used to maintain the flow. It's also a popular destination for recreation, with a variety of activities available, including:SailingWindsurfingKayakingCanoeingFishingWalkingCyclingBirdwatchingPicnickingn the River Chew.

It has been nearly 30 years since I visited Chew Valley Lake, and I wasn't disappointed. It has a small playground for children. There is a tiny cafe, which serves drinks and cakes from a window (not a sit in area, as there are chairs and tables outside). A fish and chips restaurant and separate toilets. These are in the North car park. On your walk around the nature reserve, you get lovely views of the lake, albeit the water levels are very low at the moment. When walking through picnic area 2, you have a choice of taking a left or right path, through the reserve, with a couple of scattered benches a long the path. The car parking charge is £2.20 for all day. The trail is 2.7km in all.

Beautiful lake located off from the hustle and bustle of the city. Good place for bird watching and a day out with family or kids. Ample parking available. There is a playground for kids and a good trail for walking.

Chew Valley Lake
This is a amazing place to see or visit. The lake is so big, so much to see and do. This is a great place to come and relax or come with the family. You can even rent a boat on one part of the lake. There are so many birds it was crazy but amazing to see. Will visit again, a hidden place of beaten track

Great lake, great place to see wildlife and birds. A few free places to park around the lake if you avoid the main pay and display car park.

A lovely little rest point for the weary driver. Wonderful views and enough bird life to keep any ornithologists busy.Unfortunately you can't paddle, swim, canoe or do any other water sport here as its not that kind of lake. Its a reserve. There is enough parking for about 20 cars, and there is often an ice cream van here during the day.Little tip....You can stay overnight but the place is monitored so you might get disturbed and questioned.
