Have used Smartsave for the past couple of years. Definitely no thrills but the website works well.You will not be able to touch your money whilst it's on deposit (that's why the rates are so good) and they do make that clear but that is why the reviews are negative as people don't read the T&Cs!Will use again in the future!

Need access to my funds to reduce my ever increasing mortgage payments but they have refused. There should be extenuating circumstance which allow early withdrawals such as a cost of living crisis!

Easy to open the account and easy to load funds. In fact, I had more trouble getting my deposit out of my existing (big 4) bank than I did setting up with them. Its troubling to see the grossly unfair negativity expressed with some of their online reviews. if you bank with a Mickey Mouse bank now, or don't understand the nature of the product you are buying, its not their fault, its yours!

I deposited quite a large sum of money with them recently it took my a while to do it but eventually I managed it. As soon as I did it I realised the interest rates at gone up. Of course you can’t ring them so I live chatted and asked if i could close and re-open another as I had a substantial amount more to invest. They said no i’m not a loud. As its a 1 year fixed rate. I know you can’t close a fixed bond account. But I thought you can close a fixed savings you just loose the interest. So I am not happy with them but their loss as now I am going to invest what I was going to with them somewhere else.

Be careful with reinvestment choice. They appear to give no grace if you change your mind even if the new term has not started. Will not be using them again. Much better places to put your money.

I was a little dubious about investing after reading the negative reviews. I read a couple of blogs from Martin Lewis re top 1 year fixed savers accounts and this was one of them.Had no issues with my online application and it was verified and completed within a few minutes.No issues with transferring funds from my linked account to my savers account. The funds were credited immediately and showed on my dashboard.

This no frills bank offers investors a great return on their money. All information is provided clearly BEFORE you start the application and so if people dont read the small print beforehand who else can they blame but themselves?

All very straightforward and efficient. As usual lots of people complaining with very little objective basis. This is a no frills savings bank with a market leading return and secure FSCS protection for up to £85,000

Opened my account fine and was happy with the rate. But when it comes to changing my nominated bank account, I have hit problems. However, they were helpful on the phone and it'll hopefully be sorted.

Tried to open a savings account, but unable to as it's automated system doesn't recognise the current account that's been my main account for 23 years! Total waste of time ...though judging from other reviews on here not being able to open an account is not a bad thing!!
