After phoning around different companies Jones transmissions provided me the best quote to replace noisy bearings on my gearbox so i decided to let them do the work. I paid a few hundred pounds for the job and the van came back and everything seemed to be ok until a few days later when i noticed the gear changes didn't seem as smooth. It got worse and i called them to explain and they said bring it back in so they could have a look.When they took it back apart they said 2 gear box followers had broke and this would not be covered by the years warranty which i was absolutely sure they had said i would get for the whole gearbox after the work was complete. I had a big argument over the phone over this but got nowhere and because i really needed the van back quickly for my work it didn't leave me much choice but to pay them again. I paid them hundreds more cash again and i didn't get any proper receipt which i kicked myself for after. The van has since drove fine but recently in the last few days i can hear a slight wine coming from the gearbox again just like the same sound as when i first took it to them but i much lower pitch so i am now worried and will have to sell it before it gets any worse.I broke down a few weeks ago due to more shoddy garage work(nothing to do with these guys but just saying) and got a lift back with a really nice AA man who just so happened to be an ex mechanic for Fiat and knew the vans inside out. When i told him about the gearbox he knew exactly what they had done wrong the first time it was rebuilt and told me that in 30 years of working at fiat he had never known gearbox followers to break. He said it was because they had not aligned some holding pin up properly on the shaft which would cause it to vibrate loose hence the follower failure. Obviously i could not prove this as the work had already been done again but i always did have my suspicions that it must be something they had done wrong. Anyway i really could be bothered to pursue and i didn't have the time to make claim off them so i have just left it until now!!Today my van has been into a proper garage for some other work and to my amazement they have shown me underneath so i could see gearbox mounting bolts that have not been tightened up properly and one nut completely missing.This is just disgusting and i am quite gobsmacked that my gearbox could of literally of fell out while I'm driving at 70 on a motorway!!!I have photographic evidence of these bolts and will be going to trading standards now because these cowboys need taking out of business putting peoples lives at risk. I run around with my young boy in this van.I would avoid dealing with this company at all costs. They have certainly had my pants down, don't let them do it to you!

I drove up from Luton to Wolverhampton after arranging the gearbox repair with Andy. The whole process took about 2 hours, and I received a fully refurbished box back for a reasonable price, with invoice and warranty. I can only recommend this small workshop, will use them again if I have gearbox issues.

What a great company first class from start to finish I would highly recommend them, quoted on Friday picked up Monday ( that they arranged) fitted on Tuesday picked up Wednesday they beat the best price I got for a gearbox and fitting by hundreds Andy your a star thank you

The expertise of Jones Transmissions was of outstanding value recently, when they advised my local garage regarding issues with my VW Golf. I was saved a small fortune and both myself, and indeed the garage now keep Jones Transmissions on file with a view to doing business in the future.
