Went on 9 Oct 23. There was a Q till the outside but process was efficient. Arrived at 9.20am and out by 10am. Security and bank staff were polite and tried their best to facilitate where they could.

Free to visit the Bank of England museum and really interesting to see how the banking system and use of money evolved in England. You can pick up a solid gold bar and see how the bank notes are printed as well as learn about how the banking system came about.

One staff member was very polite however, the staff behind the counter were not willing to help me at all.The bank created and circulated a new £50 and demanded the public to replace their old ones. I had a few of these as savings and was informed that I could only change £200 at a time at a bank or post office. I wasn't interested in making 20+ trips to different post offices and banks I realised the BOE can change them all for me.All I needed was some proof of who I was, Driver Licence or Passport. Which is acceptable.I showed the Lady the money, she asked for my passport, driver licence and proof of where/who I got my cash from....I said I was changing these for my Mother (who was with me) and that she got it as a gift from an elderly gentleman who she helped after he died. She was having none of that and asked for a written letter from the deceased as proof that he had given the money....Complete lack of common sense and a policy where you can't even get your money replaced after they change it.Oh, but they are happy to pay it into your bank account no questions asked. Very strange policy.

If your notes are recent enough to change in a post office, do that to avoid an unpleasant experience. The wait to change notes is 1h+ because each person takes 7-10 min and only 1 clerk is working. Security guards shout at visitors and can even shove you. You must sit on a stone bench and aren’t allowed to stand. You must fill your personal details on paper, every step is very inefficient.

Informative with a lot of history, some good displays and exhibitions all around. There is a good chronology from beginnings to the future with old printing memorabilia and interactive displays. The gift shop sells some rare items, enjoyed overall.

They do their best, but thtings like (truly terrible) forward guidance and their inability to read the market always means they react too late (and as a result) too hard. The sensible choice for severral reasons for December 2023 would have been a 0.25% decreae. In six weeks time, when inflation is falling RAPIDLY but they STILL confirm it is about 2%, someone will say we still need to hold - as wew are above the government target" is a little like someone keeping the accelerator down as they approac the junction at 100 miles an hour because "We'ew not there yet".What is going to happen is that Christmas sales will be lack luster - more people are coming off their fixed rate mortgages and money is in very short supply

Easy to find as u take the underground to BANK station using central line. The bank is located on ur left side from exit 2 from the underground station. We need to get our old notes change before leaving London as they no longer using the papers note starting September this year if not mistaken. The guard is not very friendly even the staff. Make sure u have ur proof of ur residential address from ur hometown example ur driving license or ID card together with ur passport with u if u wanna get the old notes change like us. We tried many other banks before coming here and they won’t change ur old notes for u unless you have an account with their bank.

Given the benefit of hindsight, we should've exchanged our notes at any post office. My mom was put under investigation simply because she had more than 500 GBP to exchange. She had to demand a manager and complain loudly and publicly until anything happened. We almost missed our timed-entry tickets because everything was so slow and inefficient. The rest of our family had to wait on the stone benches and were prevented from communicating while my mom was in the other room. I get that it's a bank, but they need to seriously rework their admittance system. The only upside was while we were waiting we got a chance to admire the beautiful interior architecture.

Completely inefficient. Told to bring my mother’s death certificate, which I did. Asked repeatedly, then when I arrive I was told I need a will or my fathers death certificate to exchange money. Why? It’s my money, you don’t own the rights to it…you’re a bank teller. Also, the rudest, slowest service I ever witnessed. Hot garbage!

The British Empire never died, it just converted itself into the Bank Of England and kept the money from the plundering of colonies in the BOE, which earns interests on money 24 hours a day. Just imagine how rich it really is. It could feed the world 100 times over, but it won't.Just like the Roman Empire never fell, it just converted itself into a Church (Vatican City) and kept all the monies it earned under its church vaults. Whilst using Catholicism to mask it's real history. It is the most guarded city in the world, just as City of London Corporation is the most guarded city. Makes you wonder why?
