Holland & Barrett - Durham

Have been long time customer at this branch for many years and have always had friendly, helpful service from the various staff there until my last visit 2 days ago when shop was quiet. The young woman ( it said ‘Leanne’ on till receipt) at the counter couldn’t have been less interested. Minimal conversation. When I approached counter, she said, ‘This side’ pointing to card machine nearer to her. No ‘please’ or ‘thanks’ or other interaction except to ask if I wanted a bag and when I replied, ‘yes, please’ it was silently pushed at me unopened and no offer of help to put purchases in. She didn’t say what it would cost but I already knew that & it wasn’t an issue for me but she didn’t know that. There was no thanks for the overall purchase or even a ‘goodbye’. Seemed more interested in examining her fingernails. Oh, Morag & rest of lovely Team, how I hope you’ll be back on duty next time!

Very kind lady looked up sugar and carb content on some tea bags and called me with the amounts, other ladies in the shop also as good.Thank you

Why do they charge for paper bags? Why aren't they free? Paper is renewable. The shop assistant gave no explanation.

Went in today to get some items and was very happy that there was a choice of the styles of the items I wanted and Fiona, the Lady who served me was very helpful.I also did get money off my purchases which was also get.Much more choice than I thought there would be especially whole foods.Highly recommended.

H & B are taking advantage of the current situation by hiking their prices in our time of need.

Called in whilst staying in Durham with my daughter and couldn't have been more impressed. Very attentive and helpful staff; excellent customer service. To our surprise, we actually found a much better selection and prices than our local store which is slightly bigger - so ended up filling a rucksack with healthfoods, supplements and snacks for our trip.

A medium-size branch of Holland and Barrett with friendly employees and reasonable stock selection. Holland and Barrett are a subsidiary of an international investment business based in the *tax haven* of Luxembourg. Yet they are still expensive. For my wholefoods in Durham, I prefer the covered market or to go online, where many products are cheaper and always from a more ethical source.
