Tiree Campsite
We really loved this camp. The owner William is extremely nice and helpful We didnt have a car and planned to walk to the camp in quite bad weather from the airport, luckily William offered us a ride to the camp what was amazing. We stayed in a nice bothy for 3 nights, it was very comfortable and not expensive at all. It had beds, table, chairs and little terrace where we enjoyed our food. The camp facilities were also great - hot showers, the house with the kitchen and 2 rooms where u can eat your food. If we ever come back to Tiree we would stay here again.

I can't comment on the site itself because we didn't end up staying, but the service we received was very poor and doesn't say much for welcoming tourists to Tiree.A word of caution - don't expect great service and be very careful with ferry bookings or you stand to be screwed over by Calmac, Balinoe, or both.As per the Croft Camping Scheme for Tiree, we needed to book a pitch in order to book our CalMac ferry crossing.Similarly, as per Balinoe campsite's website, we were also advised to check ferry availability before booking a pitch, which we duly did. The ferry was available, so we happily went ahead and booked a campervan pitch, paying in full because our stay was within a couple of weeks' time. When we returned to book our ferry with Calmac, the website was down for maintenance, so we called to book by phone and were told, to our dismay, there would be no more space for campervans until some time in August (several weeks away)... to this day I'm not sure whether this was true or whether we were unlucky and this was simply the worst timing in the world! In any case, I understand this wasn't the campsite's fault so I'll direct that grumble to Calmac. With no ability to get to Tiree, we telephoned the site to cancel our booking. We explained the situation and were told that sorry, but since Calmac do this all the time and the booking is only a couple of weeks away, we would not receive any refund. Now, I totally understand booking conditions, but given we'd only just booked, gave prompt notice and explained the situation, we at least expected a little empathy. Instead, we got a rant about Calmac and effectively told 'hard luck.' Still, rules are rules, so we quietly took the hit, feeling gutted that not only had we lost our holiday to Tiree, but we'd paid £57 for the privilege. Thank goodness we'd only booked a couple of nights!Skip forward a couple of weeks and we're enjoying an alternative trip to Islay when I get a message fom Balinoe Campsite asking why we hadn't turned up. I reminded him of our telephone cancellation, only to receive an argumentative reply asking why this hadn't been put in an email. The reality was it had, but this had stupidly (on our part) been sent to the 'no reply' email address. In any case, a verbal cancellation made weeks before the event was more than sufficient. I'm not sure why it mattered anyway when full payment had been retained!Put simply, there was a total lack of basic customer service and empathy in this instance. If this is a common occurrence and Calmac cancel ferries a lot, I should think Ballinoe are having a great time dining out on people's payments. They evidently have the campsite monopoly on Tiree and don't care how tourists are affected.I should add that I had to cancel a campsite on neighbouring Coll due to the same ferry issue and the owners of Arinagour couldn't have been more helpful or understanding - a little compassion goes a long way.

We stayed 2 nights in 1 of the pods. They are described as basic, and they are, but obviously you can take your own tent, campervan etc instead. The campsite really stars due to its communal facilities: an area with 2 rooms you can eat in, cooker, fridges, freezer, washing machine, kettle etc. We met some lovely people this wayThe guy who runs the site is very helpful and friendly and it even has it's own standing stone just a short walk away too

Very very basic. For us, way better than a croft as you have waste, electric and water with portaloo style showers. We have a motorhome and a family of 5 with young kids and super into SUP, surfing and kitesurfing. The location is perfect for getting out to the best spot of the day and the glorious beaches. Great to use as a gear base, get back after the end of the day and plug in, fire up the BBQ and chill. Note - photos of the beach are NOT of the campsite, just there to show you the beauty of Tiree.

There are limited motorhome camping options on Tiree it would seem and this site seems to be the main one. It is unmanned apart from within 2 hours of each ferry docking. There are options for vehicles, tents and pods. On arrival somebody advised us to setup on the hard-standing area as it was raining and would likely be a better option than on the grass, that's the last contact we had with anybody connected to the site management. The hard standing is a bit like a car park in front of a long storage building with EHU points attached to said building. Within a minute of attachment to our nearest EHU it stopped working so we connected to one further away and stayed with that one until we left. The site is okay, with 2 festival style toilets and 2 larger shower cubicles. My biggest gripe would be the toilet waste facility, it's a section in the ground with a cover that is lifted with some attached rope/twine/string thing. I think it must be a part of the waste conduit for the portaloos. Anyway, the real problem is there is no dedicated standpipe or short hose for rinsing. The hose that does exist leads back to the fresh water stand pipe and there is a notice advising ppl not to use the hose for fresh water as the cleanliness cannot be assured. Obviously not. It's really not a good enough arrangement and it would be really easy to create a separate feed from the tap to a dedicated outlet for the waste. Just lazy, or disinterested.

Wonderful campsite with great facilities. Surrounded by beautiful views of Tiree and the nearby beach just a short walk away. Spectacular white sands and blue seas. All the amenities and very clean. Indoor storage for bikes, surf boards etc. The owner is really helpful and has a great surf school and surf shop. I highly recommend both this campsite and their surf school too.

Basic campsite with basic facilities but it did me fine. I saw the showers and toilets being cleaned often and although they’re housed in portaloo style units they are plummed in so are much better.I stayed in a pod which had the advantage of electricity and being more solid than a tent. However they are very basic and have issues with damp. They are described as having one double or two single bed options but neither way was as big as this. The double bed layout is around 5’10” in length and not as wide as a double either. I’d estimate the whole pod floor plan to be 6ft by 8ft, but it curves inwards. The site owner was helpful and the site is kept tidy.
