Crayke Castle
The views from the castle were beautiful and worth the awkward time we had finding a space to park. My advice would be to park behind the village pub (has about 50 spaces) which is free and walk 5 minutes up the hill. 3 stars since there was no public access to the castle or grounds so if you came from far, you might be disappointed.

Spooky looking Grade 1 listed Castle high on a ridge. Looks neglected and unoccupied. Needs some tlc.

No allowed in, but the views from the bench outside is really worth a long look across the countryside.

Not open to public, but originally belonged to Durham Bishops (Jeffreys 1770 map), has great view from seat on ridge just outside castle, also you can get a great pint from the Durham Ox down the hill....

The view from the side of the road is good. The castle is private and not for the public

Can't believe it's empty when it needs to be occupied. It is such a wonderful building and it's location is unsurpassed.Such a shame. Can somebody please buy it and restore it to its former glory. It doesn't deserve to just decay.
