Smith's Island Car Park

Parked here yesterday. Very busy, had to follow queue of traffic to far end of car park. Signs said 'pay on exit' but no indication of how much or how to pay. On leaving, again in bumper to bumper traffic queue, I expected to find a barrier, pay machine or attendant. Nothing! Was shunted through exit by cars following.So, I haven't paid! It seems I should have scanned a QR code with a mobile phone I hadn't got!! The signage is awful. I would like to pay for my parking but have spent the last 24hours trying to find a contact no. or email for Smith's Island to no avail. I suppose I will have wait for a penalty notice then maybe I can speak to someone. NOT a happy customer.

Pulled up to this car park for the first time. Following the one way system... parked up.. ran out in the rain.. scanned the QR code and paid at 4:35 for 2 hours!... my payment was taken and my car was to expire at 6:35pm... TO COME BACK AT 6:12PM WITH MY 12 AND 6 YEAR OLD... TO FIND IM LOCKED IN THE CARPARK!No one to contact no one to help.1 small sign in a Bush to say that the carpark will be locked at 6.. but I had to go looking for it.WHY DID THEY ALLOW ME ON THE APP TO PAY TO 6:35!!!!So here I am. In the car waiting to go back hoke to Sheffield... oh and to pay for the privilege

Clean and tidy, £2.50 for two hours. Very close to town, a short walk over the weir and your in the centre of town. Parking attendants available if you need help.

Great car park £6 for the full day, to explore Bakewell its a must. The weather was a little cool, but plenty of nice little coffee shops to warm up and rest, what a wonderful day.

Be careful. New ANPR system said our car entered car park at 1100. We arrived after 1200. How many others have been overcharged??

Convenient entry in morning/early day with attendants guiding you to bays, however after 2pm there is a huge traffic jam trying to get out AND no sign of attendants. To top it off, the gates close at 6pm! It's now 5pm, been waiting an hour to get out and by the looks of it, it will be a further hour or so of queuing, good luck to the people still not yet arrived to their cars... Price is £5.50 for the day, but you have to leave the car park by 6pm!

This has got to be the most badly organised carpark do not park here unless you want to be stuck in a queue for 2 hours and twenty minutes to get off it is just plain greed allowing far too many cars on there and has unfortunately spoilt a lovely day in bakewell

This carpark has both short stay (up to 2hours) and long stay sections. One of the pictures on this review is of the short stay only. Long stay was max charge £5.50 which doesn't seem too bad considering that's about 1hr in the middle of a city. Toilets are a 3min walk across the bridge of locks. We parked here as a starting point for the Monsal Trail, the start of which is 3/4 mile down a quiet country road.

Relatively reasonably priced and conveniently located. But if you have dogs in the car - be aware that there are No Dogs Allowed" signs at every entrance. No idea if it's actually enforced

Lots of Parking Provided You have LOTS of Time.If you are daft enough to choose the “Long Stay” car parking your in for a just that with the massive traffic jam trying to get out.Lots of attendants guiding the “fish into the barrel”, shoot your wallet to bits, then when you think your day out is finished your in for a surprise.Funeral planning would be advised as unless your 22, your going to need it!Only parked here for 3hrs but it took 1:15 to get out!!!
