Brilliant shop. Lots of really interesting stock at great prices. The staff are really helpful - I could not find a DVD in the shop so they checked for me in storage. They even sell selected stock at half price. This is the place to find bargains!!

I have been trying to make a simple purchase at the shop but I was being cut out from any queue everytime when I tried queing. I first started queuing after a lady, but three ladies came on the other side (since there's three of them) and they are not aware of them skipping the queuing, I have to wait for them, and stood behind them. After a while,,another lady, who has been returning stuff and has been taking quite some time, she also skipped the queue and handed in her stuff to be purchased when I was right at the counter, and the staff ignored the fact that she skipped the queue and went for the cashier. I noticed there's security cameras at the shop so feel free go verify my statement with the footage. So I waited at the same spot, this time, still hoping that the staff noticed I was being cut off from my queue the second time. But no, instead of that, they allowed other people to keep skipping it, and when the second lady finished purchasing her stuff, two staff looked at me as if I have skipped the queue, because there's another queue being made near the fitting area now. And I still remembered, after making my payment for a blue dress, and being very polite and told the staff that I have been finding it difficult to make my purchase on the queue, they ignored what I said, and proceeded with the payment. What is even more shocking, is they apologized to those who make a separate queue next to me, and the staffs looked at me and their face was telling me, you are the one who is cutting the queue". They did not apologize to me

Went into to buy some vinyl; I changed my mind within a couple of minutes , and simply asked for an exchange over a £1.49 purchase !!!!!The way the staff reacted you would think I had been asking for a refund on the crown jewels. A big burly lad come over and started getting in my space three big men had to handle the transaction . Big man - no1(burly) checked the album over and remained like a bad smell hovering over me like a jail warder . I then asked if they could just take off the refund balance and apply it to the new purchase , another guy with glasses could not communicate the shop policy well so again the big man had to cut in.What made matters worse is another customer who came after got served before they completed my transaction , the old man had appalling people skills when I originally asked him for a look at the albums he blanked me and another man had to take over. No wonder they need so many volunteers on a Sunday morning!!!!! If certain staff members treat honest customers as dodgy perhaps its their own past form that is the source of fuel. As this is the charity shop industry; Thats highly probable.I reckon the people working here would not get a job outside of the blooming exploitative volunteer/charity shop industry which is replacing real retail jobs like a spreading disease on the British High street.Charity shops(before they dominated the high streets in numbers ) used to be staffed by genuine do gooders and there was a more friendly sedate atmosphere not any more.An utter disgrace to the high street of 2017.

A nicely laid out shop which can get busy at times. Stock changes quickly so be sure to pop in regularly to bag a bargain.

A great store in a prime location. This one stands out from the crowd. Windows always very nicely displayed, makes you want to come into shop. Excellent staff who couldn’t be more friendly. A great experience.

Anna was extremely helpful in organising dates where donations could be picked up. Jerry the van driver went out of his to help. Both of them made this donation really easy to do and I could not ask more of them. Very easy recommendation.

I wanted to donate a fairly large number of items and the staff and volunteers at this store, very much unlike their colleagues in other Edinburgh stores, were very kind and helpful. Anna arranged a pick up of my donation with Jerry, one of their volunteers, who turned up at the agreed time at the other side of Edinburgh the day after. My experience with the Nicolson St. store of the BHF was simply great. Thanks to Anna, Jerry and all at the store I hope to have given a second life to the belongings I left behind, and most importantly a little contribution to research. One of my favorite charity shops in Edinburgh. Anna, the manager, is such a nice woman who goes out of her way to be helpful and friendly with a cheery word for every customer. On my visit yesterday, I was trying to decide which backpack to choose for an upcoming trip when an extremely rude man snatched one of the bags from me and said I'd had long enough to decide and he was going to buy it. I tried to reason with him but he was having none of it. I called out to Anna for help and she handled the situation admirably with tact and diplomacy. In the end, the man threw the bag back at me and stomped out. All in all, an extremely well-managed store busting at the seams with great quality, reasonably priced stuff. I'd highly recommend a visit!
