Joséphine Marie Doula

Josephine has such a calm and lovely energy. She helped us after having our baby and cooked us the most delicious food! This was one of the most important periods in our lives, and having Josephine there to help us through it meant so much.

Joséphine's calm and experienced presence helped us to transition from the expectation of a homebirth to the reality of a hospital birth at 42weeks+3days. Her advocacy helped us to navigate the medical advices and interventions in a way which enabled me to feel positive and in control throughout.In the antenatal meetings, Joséphine was very attentive and listened to both myself and my wife so that she could support us appropriately. We both felt very heard, seen and accepted throughout her work with us.It was always clear that Joséphine cared deeply and sincerely about helping us have the birth experience which was best for us. Her advocacy and presence helped us both to stay together and in the moment as we trusted her to do all that she could.Thank you Joséphine!

I found Josephine's Birth Advocacy session that she did with us so incredibly helpful. Her knowledge and understanding is excellent and she gave me and my partner some really helpful tools to help us go confidently forward into our birth. She is a kind, friendly and deeply caring person and I would recommend her to anyone thinking of getting a doula for their birth.

I hired Josephine as a postpartum doula after the birth of my second child and I could not recommend her highly enough. She is warm, kind and supportive and brought a lovely sense of calm into our home. Josephine was happy to help in whatever way I asked but also did lots of things on her own initiative and made suggestions of things that she thought would be helpful. She is a fantastic cook and made us lots of wonderful meals which we greatly miss! She was also wonderful with my older child.I would absolutely encourage other pregnant people to get in touch with Josephine, she made such an incredible and positive impact on my postpartum experience. Josephine helped us after the birth of our first son. She was such a calm presence and she was so helpful with everything from our birth debrief to helping us pack to move to Australia. There was nothing she wasn’t keen to help with and would always get back to me with information no matter what my questions or query’s were about. I highly recommend.

Josephine supported us at the birth of our daughter. She helped me adjust to a planned c section rather than the vaginal birth I wanted. She gave us lots of information about c section and helped us create a new birth plan.She was there at the birth and helped in communicating our wishes to staff, giving advice and just generally being extra support. She also took some great post birth photos. Her aftercare was great too.She was thoughtful, calm and caring. I would highly recommend her.

I am SO pleased we were able to have Joséphine with us for the birth of our daughter. Even though though it didn’t all go to plan, it was still an entirely positive experience and I think things would have been very different had it just been me and my husband.I went into labour early one morning, a week before my due date and the plan had always been to have birth at home if possible. My husband called triage mid morning but was told that the home birth service was not available that day due to staff shortages. Joséphine told us not to panic and, with her there, we felt confident to carry on labouring at home in the pool (in the hope that a home birth team might become available later. By 5.30 it became clear that this wasn’t to be, so we chose to transfer in to hospital around 6.30. Our daughter was born in the pool an hour later.With Josephine’s help and support, we were able to spend 14 out of 15 hours at home, which was the best possible outcome available to us on the day. It also allowed all other aspects of the birth plan to continue (e.g. for example pain relief), which may have been a different story had we transferred earlier in the day.We couldn’t have asked for better care and support on such a life-changing day - thank you so much Josephine!
