I started using Cycle for Fitness 6 months ago after an initial consultation with Grant about a planned Lands End to John O Groats ride. My cycling regime prior to working with Grant was focussed on trying to do more and more miles and in 2020 I clocked up around 5000 miles. I was rather cynical with the initial training plans that Grant set. It was significantly less miles, each week with a new focus on data such as heart rate and cadence. Three months later after seeing results Grant introduced Power and the results have been astounding. Every week I feel that I am learning how to cycle more efficiently, faster and I now enjoy hills rather than fearing them. I feel that Grant is with me on every ride because he is constantly looking at my data and providing significant support. His communication is excellent, very motivating and he always takes the time to explain my many questions. The bottom line of all this is that after 6 months my speed, power and efficiency have all significantly improved. But more importantly at the age of 54, cycling with Grant's support and guidance has tangibly made me fitter and healthier.

I started cycling in March 2021 and became instantly hooked. An incredible new and colourful world was opened up to me.I had some faint thoughts that I should maybe get a coach as I felt I had the potential to be a decent cyclist and wanted to realise that, so a friend recommended Grant. I told her “I don’t want a coach that’s going to shout at me, or drive me to tears. I’ve enough going on without the stress of that. I want someone who will take me to new levels, and who will be kind and understanding. I want to be pushed...but not over the edge.”From my first Zoom meeting with Grant, I knew he was the man for the job! He’s so softly-spoken and always instills an air of calm. He’s outrageously experienced, knowledgeable, and patient (especially when it came to helping me get to grips with all the technical stuff). Grant’s own cycling experience is inspiring, and is testament to him really knowing his stuff. He can completely relate to any struggles, dips or down days his athletes may have as he’s been there, done that - and knows how to get us out the other side.I had goals and challenges which Grant took time to research and understand - and he has helped me smash them all. His training style is very ‘real’ and accommodating, and his communication is simply wonderful. Varied training sessions, fun rides on the road when we did an event together in Mallorca, what’s app messages with top tips and reading material he thinks I’d enjoy, jokes, support, banter, kudos...Grant is more than just a coach - he’s a great friend. My cycling has improved enormously under Grant’s watch - I’m a much stronger athlete now, and my new-found confidence in the saddle spurs me on to take part in sportifs and gran fondos all over the world.I can’t recommend Grant’s coaching service strongly enough, whether you’re an elite athlete, a weekend warrior, or a nervous newbie. He’s the ultimate professional.

• Approachable• Comprehensive consultation• Bespoke training plan• Targets challenging & achievable• Plan flexible• Encouraging post training feed back• Achieved goals = a stronger fitter riderI believe I am a fit 57 year old, having done some form of exercise two or three times a week through out my adult life. I took up road cycling in 2014, somewhat accidentally. A friend challenged me to take part in a London to Paris charity ride, I had to borrow a road bike to do this! Suffice to say I fell in love with road cycling and took it up with great enthusiasm to the point where I cycle on average 3,500 miles a year. I applied training lessons learned running; intervals, hill work etc. to cycling with, I believe, some success.Last year rather belatedly, I was invited to two Army fund raising events back to back. Ride London 100 and on the following day travel to Normandy for five days of cycling some 310 miles. 410 miles in the week on some challenging routes with some very athletic and competitive (ex-Army) friends.I need to get a lot fitter in only 10 weeks, I need help!I have known Grant for many years, we were once neighbours and I have followed his career change from white collar exec to cycle trainer with interest. It was not familiarity that convinced me to use Grant however, it was his cycling experience, qualifications and, I dare say, his age. (When listening to an explanation on the nuances of training after 50, it is reassuring to know this is based on experience as well as theory).Following an in depth and honest consultation focusing on my goals, time constraints in my week, likes and dislikes when training and a cycle fitness test, Grant produced a comprehensive and bespoke plan. Using the Training Peaks App, the plan was simple to follow and flexible, if something unexpected came up at work or home, I could tweak the weekly plan. It was a tremendous help to have Grants detailed feed back on my performance based on the Training Peaks App and for him to hear my views and queries on my progress. Often during training I would really push myself, because Grant ‘was watching’; so like having a coach out there with you! Grant’s training reviews, by and large, arrived on my phone before I’d got out of the shower, so always fresh and relevant. When I had finished my training and in fairness to Grant I hadn’t given him or me much time, I was unsure as to how I would fair during my week of cycling. My reservations were completely baseless, as I tackled each day feeling strong from beginning to end. I sailed up the ascents, often in front, and was able to recover quickly for the next hill. Thanks to Grant’s fitness coaching the week was exhilarating and a great success. where I was able to really apply myself, be competitive but also stay strong and enjoy the scenery of France and the camaraderie of my friends.I would highly recommend Grant’s coaching services to experienced cyclists who need help achieving their full potential.

I worked with Grant for 3 months before I did LEJOG in August 2022. Grant designed a training program for me that helped to build my strength for the climbs. I felt stronger and fitter by the time I did LEJOG and I honestly feel I wouldn't have achieved my fitness without Grant's help. The training program was manageable and challenging. I loved it! I knew what I needed to do on each day and just did it.As I was in Australia and training through winter it was great that I could do the set sessions on the trainer through Zwift or go out on the road, depending on the weather. Grant was always available to provide motivation and helpful advice when needed.I will certainly contact Grant when I am training for future events.

I have been training with Grant for over a year now and it’s been a fantastic journey. I could not recommend him enough. He is experienced, knowledgeable, engaging, empathetic and always encourages you to reach for your best. I have over achieved my goals with Grants guidance and support, increased my power and become the fittest I have ever been. From his calm and engaging style, great listening skills, and always interesting insights, I enjoyed our discussions, and appreciated Grants willingness to always accommodate whatever comes up and support me to work through it and continue to train.Highly recommended as a coach, 5 star experience.

It was always a pleasure to speak with Grant. The training program was busy but achievable & flexible, and took account of existing routine training. It prepared me well for both tours (Ireland end to end & Lejog) this year. Being pretty new to cycling and having never trained properly before if I had not had the structure and content I am sure the tours would have been a very different experience!Thank you Grant.

Grant is a very nice guy. I joined cycle for fitness about 4 months ago in order to improve my cycle fitness and technique ready for our Lejog trip next year. I have found him very professional. He has always sorted any queries very quicklyAt 70 it is never to late to improve.Under Grant’s guidance and training plan I have certainly noticed the difference for which I am very grateful. I would certainly recommend Grant to anyone who wants to become a better cyclist.

Who says you are too old to dream? Grant Goodman, at Cycle for Fitness helped me, firstly to understand that there is nothing wrong with dreams are your future goals and secondly how to make the dream come true and achieve those goals. In February of this year I was a keen cyclist who was both suprised and fortunate to be the first of his 70+ age group across line in a Gran Fondo, one that qualified him for the UCI World Championships. Would this actually be possible? If I were to enter I would need to ensure I was the best I could be. I needed a coach! From those very first days in March, Grant guided and supported me through a structured plan that resulted in me fulfilling my dream, as a competitor, representing my country in the UCI World Amateur Road Race Championships in Perth, Scotland. I didn't make the podium but that was never a part of the dream, but I did compete and produced the best ride of my life. The progress was beyond my expectations for such a short training period, with most of the important metrics improving by between 20 - 25%.I look forward to further improvements when we begin the path to another dream later this or early next year.If you are young or old and want to improve your fitness on the bike for racing or epic mount climbs or simply wish to increase your longevity, I recommend you give Grant Goodman a call!

When I first spoke to Grant about completing Le jog I was concerned about my ability on hills and Grant said to me ‘you want to enjoy rather than endure’ and he hit the nail on the head perfectly and geared his plan to help me achieve just that. The plan took account of my work load on weekdays which utilised the turbo trainer and longer hill based routes on the road bike at weekends. Grant was readily available on WhatsApp and phone to help with other queries; group sets to use, recommended tyres etc. I would highly recommend Grant to create a training plan; and wouldn’t hesitate to use him again, a great experience

Started with Grant in October 2020. Was not new to cycling but I couldn’t find the magic switch to get better , faster and fitter.I’m not going to say that Grant will flower up any training plans. Its hard work , It’s solid numbers based on factual analysis of your performance against his bespoke custom made plans. He delivers results - period.Whilst doing that , he also has a very calm , professional approach to his coaching style and helps you believe that YOU CAN also deliver the results.100% professional
