St Mary's Church Attenborough

I love this church and graveyard. It is so peaceful.There is a blue plaque and a communal grave to commemorate the Chilwell explosion during the first world war.

Quaint local church in Attenborough. Very well kept and open most days to visitors. Very tranquil setting in Attenborough village and next to the mightily impressive Attenborough nature reserve. The church itself is historic, but also amongst the graveyard is contained the remains and memorial to the 130 souls who lost their lives in the 1918 explosion at the national shell filling factory no6, known today as Chilwell Station (depot).It is a reminder of the church's relationship with the surrounding area. Many locals have a deep affinity with the church and surrounding area. My wife and I were married there 35 years ago and are just one couple of many over the years to have done soLovely church, lovely area and well worth a look.

Nice church - kept very tidy.

A very beautiful peaceful place to visit very old dates back to the 18 th century but I believe it does go back even further. If you can visit the gardens in the church are lovely full of natural flowers what grow.

Great church with Norman features within and Norman archway still clearly visible on side wall. 13th Century wrought-iron clad doorway to be found in porch of church, alongside 12th century cross slab with intricate carving design.Lovely interior with Jacobean pew carvings and Norman column tops will keep you occupied inside. This really is a beautiful church, full of peace. I would recommend anyone take a while to just be at peace in here.

A wonderful church next to the nature reserve.

Absolutely beautiful to see all the crocus and snowdrops out on mass. Best time to see them - mid February
