I have lived in Derry Villas for 2 years.The building's location is perfect for access to the uni, being only a 5 minute walk away.CityLets were always quick to respond to any requests or emails I sent, with maintenence always being performed within a week of it being requested.I also found that having the studio gave me a quiet place to do my uni work as well as somewhere to go during my downtime between lectures.Tom (the landlord) and James were also very helpful and I would like to thank them for the excellent accommodation they have provided.I would highly recommend Derey Villas for any students looking for a studio in Plymouth.

Enjoyed my stay with citylets for my third year of uni. Worked hard to find us a nice place to live, and specifically had tonnes of help & clear communication from Paul who helped us out with a sticky situation contract-wise towards the end. Really recommend him for any issues/advice during your tenancy!! Very student-friendly company, would recommend.Wish I had pictures of the beautiful house we stayed in too- I recommend asking about accommodation early on in the year so you have pick of everything!

Our flat viewings with Paul have been fantastic. He’s gone above and beyond in every single situation. He’s helped us with any issues we faced and come up with a great solution every time. Didn’t know too much about the company before our initial enquiries but now after meeting with Paul I couldn’t recommend them enough. He deserves the chocolate this month. -Bestie

I don't understand how the reviews are so high. If you are a university student, please talk to other students about their experience with citylets, as face-to-face I have yet to meet one person who has anything good to say. For your own health, safety and sanity, stay away.Last year I dealt with the stress of being homeless due to an aggressive, unstable flatmate on top of the stress of dealing with staff. Extremely rude, vindictive, unbelievably incompetent, and chronic liars. They had lied about being 'verbally assaulted' by my university when the uni had asked for a meeting. When the uni finally got through in person in order to discuss my wellbeing and what could be done for me in terms of housing to Chloe, an extremely dismissive and lethargic staff memeber, who was very inconvienced by being asked to do her job and arrange a meeting (I had been told Chloe had been let go of and was no longer with the company when I complained about her previous misconduct before this), James refused this meeting a day or so later. He then lied and told me that it was the university who refused this meeting.When I had been given permission to novate my contract (which according to them was the height of customer service and charity, they often referenced it when we complained about their conduct), I had been asked to remove my things, even though I was homeless. And this wasn't my contract being novated, this was just being given *permission* to look for someone else and advertise the room. My friend was able to keep my belongings in her basement, which was not only an inconvience to her but my only choice. But because I had no where to live for so long most of my belongings got eaten away and destroyed by mould from sitting in a damp basement for months, expensive and sentimental items all thrown away.When I actually tried to novate my contract to someone during the wave of masters students looking for a room, James had denied every single person that had contacted me, because they were looking to pay monthly rather than termly. After this wave of potential candidates had passed on, and it was too late for any masters students to look for homes, James then decided he would allow a new tenant to pay monthly. I was left unable to find a new place because at this point no one was around to take my contract, I had to keep throwing my student loan at them, which I could have been using to live somewhere else, and I had to continue to sofa surf.On top of this, they tried to make me pay for surplus utilities until April. They could not provide proof from meters, and were fully aware that I had not been in the property since October of the previous year.I am not from this country, I didn't have anyone who wasn't a student, like family, to help me out in person. The way James spoke to my mother and sister who were in Ireland and worried about me is abysmal. Accusatory, insulting and condescending. International students, you are taking a huge risk to your safety when you let with this company. One star is too high a rating. I have been put through hell by their exploitation.

Had an amazing experience with sharna at CityLets she was able to answer all our questions and recommended us some really good houses within our budget to see . I am very happy with my experience house viewing with cityLet’s :)

Such great help in finding a house, asked us what we was looking for and succeeded our expectations. Paul showed us around and answered any questions we had. He was such a great help.

It was amazing to have a viewing with Paul. He went out of his way to help us with the views although the houses weren't what we wanted. He was able to also give us an alternative asap by quickly calling the tenants. I congratulate Paul and the tenants for letting us in. I hope Paul wins the chocolate this month :). Looking for a flat this year had been super stressful before we had our viewings with Paul. He showed us ideal properties and even negotiated a lower price for our dream flat, as well as resolving any issues we've had. CityLets has been amazing with communication and I couldn't recommend Paul enough.

where do I start with this company?The negative reviews speak for themselves. Awful at corresponding, leave you in the dirt. Would rather you’d be homeless than help you out- if you’re a student, that is. Last year I was in a desperate and unexpected situation and they gave me a lot of false hope before ghosting me completely. I made several direct inquiries about flats which were listed as available, but never heard back and got one reply about viewing dates but never got a confirmation. Ended up going to Dave with studentroomsforplymouth, who is so responsive and accommodating (so if you’re in a rut for a place, go to him). My friends all have terrible terrible experiences with citylets, some of them not even being able to get the flat they’ve put a deposit on because of unreasonable circumstances. Maintenance? What’s that? There’s a reason when the topic of letting companies come up amongst students is “city lets? Oh you poor thing!” I don’t know why they’re so unfriendly and hostile, but if you’re a student looking for a bit more independence, do not go to them.

I have to thank CityLets for all the support, we are currently renting a room for our son and they have been ever so helpful.As we are overseas they go the extra mile to help us.Thank you to James, Nikki, Debbie, Lewis and especially to Paul who today went above and beyond the call of duty to help our son.Fantastic people, lovely accommodation.
