What a saga!I took my Russian wedding ring in on the 21st of July to be resized and was quoted that it would be a little bit long than the usual 14 working days due to the owner’s upcoming holiday. I was informed that they would contact me to discuss the options available as Russian wedding rings aren’t the easiest of rings to resize. On the 24th of August I rang to enquire, hoping that they would have some quotes for me. The lady I spoke to gave me a quote of £210 but was unsure what that quote was for, as we had discussed a few different options, and told me that she would find out and get back to me.On the 29th of August having still not heard from Alexanders I rang again, having decided that I would ask for my ring back. The lady I spoke to said she would find out what was going on with my ring and would call me back and abruptly hung up. I rang back at the end of the working day to again request my ring back, having had no call back from the shop, and was this time quoted £240 for resizing. She got confused as to which ring it was, stating it had been cut off a finger when mine was completely intact and interrupted me when I corrected her. I asked again to have my ring back and arranged to collect it on 31st.On the 31st of August I went to collect my ring and, shockingly, despite handing over my work ticket with its unique code, was handed someone else’s Russian ring (presumably the one she confused mine with over the phone despite being corrected). She brusquely insisted three times that it was my ring until she finally accepted that it couldn’t be, as this was an 18 carat to my ring’s 9, at least twice the size of mine and damaged. I was horrified that, had I been more easily confused or less scrupulous, I could have easily walked out with someone else’s (more financially valuable, let alone emotionally significant) wedding ring!On the 1st of September I was finally reunited with my wedding ring. I have no idea if the two quotes of £210 and £240 were for my ring or for the other gentleman’s ring. What I do know is that I took my ring across the road to Isaac’s Working Jewellers who have quoted me £150 for resizing and will have the work done in 1 working day. What a farce!

My partner and I have just been in to enquire about engagement rings with a view of trying some on. The lady came across as very snooty and pompous. Extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. She advised my partner to go to the outside window to indicate which rings she would like to try on. Only to leave us standing outside at the window and not coming over. At this point, following her snooty and unhelpful tone, we decided to walk away. Very disappointed, and will absolutely not be visiting this jewellers again.

Alexander's is my go to places for jewellery repairs. I lost a stone from an early 20th century ring and have just had a garnet put in to replace it. It looks absolutely beautiful, and Alexander's checked that the other stones were secure. They also have some lovely pre-owned jewellery for sale, and I'm going to treat myself to something one day!

I sought advice relating to a special gift for my Granddaughter’s 21st birthday. The staff were extremely helpful identifying a number of items that could have suited. Once I had chosen the Diamond dress ring the sales person took time to gift wrap the item for me also. Many thanks for such good customer service and professional knowledge. I shall certainly be back at this store again.

Alexander’s Jeweller in Skipton is my go to Jeweller for any alterations or mending I need doing to my rings. I have been coming to Alexander’s Jewellers for many years and they have away been polite, welcoming and friendly towards me.No alteration is to big or too small for them, and the completed work they do is always Sublime and to a high quality. If they have any issues with the alterations they are carrying out, they will anyway contact you, so that you are up to date with the item or items you are having altered.

Alexanders created my beautiful engagement ring, which I have fallen in love with.We had to return the ring for resizing which was my first visit to the shop and I was blown away by the personal service and how knowledgeable the ladies are. The turn around was prompt and I was given updates as to when my ring would be ready.Overall I am delighted with the service and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Alexanders Jewellers to anybody, they couldn’t do enough to help!

What an absolute farce, saw a ring I liked but unfortunately it was too small, I was advised that it would be taken out of the window and put to “one side” until they could find out if a larger one could be ordered, my name, number and details about the ring size was taken and written in a book, I was advised someone would ring me in 2 weeks, no one ever did, several phone calls and visits to the shop were made over a 4 month period by myself and every excuse was offered, they had to wait for a silver order, they were unable to order one ring, call back in 2 weeks, call back nearer Christmas, we will ring you when it come in, etc etc.I telephoned the shop this week to be told to call back the day after as his wife wasn’t in that day, I called in that same day and his wife was in the shop, she was dealing with someone so I waited, whist waiting someone else came into the shop, she finished with the previous customer, ignored me and started dealing with the other customer! When I asked her if she still had the ring, she stated she didn’t know which safe it would be in, and didn’t know which book my number was written in and that they don’t save rings and it’s probably been sold! What an absolute farce, she did phone me back the day after to totally contradict everything she had previously said, I will not be returning, rude, farcical and unprofessional. In response to your review reply, like you said you were with a customer when I came in the shop and like I said I waited until you had finished with that customer, you then ignored me and started dealing with the customer that came in after me.You and your staff have all said the ring would be kept out of the window until you found out if another could be ordered, i did ask at that point if I could buy that one and the reply was you needed to keep it to ensure the right was was ordered, at no point was any budget discussed my daughter liked the unusual silver ring which was actually only £30, like I have said in my previous review, you have yet again contradicted yourself. instead of “fobbing” people off, just tell people the truth as a different story was given by different members of your staff, and as previously stated by myself, a complete and utter farce.
