James made a wonderful job at restoring our old music box. He took it in a very poor condition and carefully took it to bits, cleaned it to a brand new state, and restored the badly faded and warped casing. We are thrilled with the result and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him to anyone.

James fully restored our Karl Griesbaum music box including the replacement of missing bird feathers and the rectification of several faults, including bellows and switch issues. Not only was the work of exceptional quality, it was also meticulous in the approach, culminating in a fantastic result - which Included a complete service and cleaning of the box itself, cleaning and the straightening a heavily damaged key. Highly, highly recommended if you want to entrust your precious possession with a trully skilled craftsman !

James carried out a sympathetic restoration of our 19th century Paillard Voucher Fils music box. He fixed the tune changing mechanism, replaced a broken tooth, and replaced all the dampers. All work done was to the very highest standard and we couldn't be happier with the service. Thanks again, James!

Excellent communication, service and professionalism. James repaired the music box mechanism from a teddy bear which has not functioned for many, many years. The bear was given to me by my maternal grandmother in the early 1960s. I can recommend James’ expertise & customer care. I’m delighted that I found him via an online search.

James is a wonderful person. His skills as a craftsman are exceptional. My great grandmother’s music box was always less than bright and it plunked out the tunes.When I saw what he had done to the music box it was a real “Repair Shop” moment. I had never seen the box in all its glory.I’m over the moon with its restoration I can now take it up to my mum, who has vascular dementia, and hope playing it will bring back memories of her childhood.I also took the music box into school when I held a Victorian school day. To see streetwise children wowed by something that didn’t flash and didn’t run on electricity was so,etching else.Thank you again James. I’m so glad we found you.

My singing bird box stopped working, and as it was a special gift from my late husband, I was anxious about it being repaired. However I contacted James and was reassured by his knowledge and understanding. He detailed the work he would need to carry out, and when the repairs would be completed. My box is now in excellent condition and I am confident it will continue to give me joy for years to come. James is a very talented and experienced craftsman, who cares about the work he undertakes.
