Set within the Lake District, a World Heritage Site, Whinlatter has unrivalled views across Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwentwater and Keswick. It is also home to the longest purpose-built mountain bike trails in the Lake District. The Lakes are a dramatic and unique landscape which has been formed through man’s activities, such as forestry and land management. This landscape has inspired many of the world’s greatest artists, writers and thinkers.

Visited as part of the GB24 race. While running around the forest I noticed how much was on offer to everyone. Will be coming back for some mountain biking & to have a go at go ape. If your visiting Keswick & the surrounding area put this place on your to do list, you won't be disappointed.

It's a well sign posted easy to use car park. Run by the forestry commission, same people who run the nearby information centre, so identical prices. £2 for the first hour and 45p for every 20 minutes after that. Their pay machines don't give out any change but they do accept card. There is a layby that is free to use down the road but it will add quite a bit onto your walk but if you're biking it would make a stiff warm up.

Expensive car park if you have just stopped for a comfort break and coffee. You can't do that in the 20 mins free" time allowed as you have to walk up to the cabin for both. Plus

I can't remember when I was here or where it was. My car was presumably parked in the car park since I do not generally lurk in such places without good reason.As I still have my car in generally the same condition I can only assume it was safely parked.Seriously Google, what do you expect me to write about a car park?

This is a gigantic car park in Whinlatter Forest, and it is fairly expensive (there is card payment option available so you don't need lots of change). There are no further cost though so it kinda evens out.
