Looked ropey on approach (down by the river with construction work just before it), but once in the views are good. The hotel is amazing and right in town. Quick walk over the bridge and you are in the pubs and shops.

Great hotel close to city centre & train station. Amazing attentive staff, good menu in restaurant & ample breakfast choices. Spacious comfortable bedrooms with tea/ coffee facilities.All hotel staff were exceptional, friendly & helpful. 5☆

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is spacious and clean. However, there was confusion upon check-in after a long journey. The bed was advertised as a 'King double' but was two twin mattresses just lumped together, meaning they kept on splitting. We notified reception, and housekeeping did rectify this but needed an hour to do so. The room is also a little hot. Saw other reviews with niggling complaints just like us but got the impression they would rectify anything.The spa facilities included in the room price and were lovely and again very clean. Only had breakfast one day but food was good. Decent poached eggs. No pancakes available but they did offer French toast if you like that instead.

I went here for a spa day, my spa therapist was called Summer and she was absolutely great. She was very lovely and made me feel relaxed and was great at giving me a facial, head and shoulder massage. She also took care around all my facial piercings making sure not to knock them. All staff are lovely and happy to help. The pool is great aswell as the sauna and steam room

Lovely hotel with spa facilities free for guests to use. Khloe on reception was fab during our stay. Thank you for your kind service. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet too. However, were a little disheartened as two members of staff came to our room twice between 10-11am and attempted to rush us out when our checkout was at 1pm and we had the do not disturb sign on the door. Other than that little issue we had a lovely stay and will definitely come back.

Amazingly beautiful hotel. Had an afternoon relaxing in the spa and then an evening out in town for food and drinks. Rooms are stunning, clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely not to be missed, I asked if I could have Eggs Benedict, as its my favourite, and they sorted it straight away. Definitely will be back again.

Fabulous hotel, right on river small walk into town.Clean and perfect for long weekend.Pool and saunas were fab on night, quiet and relaxing.Received dressing gowns of reception to use.

Had a last minute spa day and what a place to get one at. In the heart of Durham a great location to be able to walk by the river hit all the food places and bars. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The spa was very clean and good facilities. It was very busy when I went but calmed down later on. I had a massage booked and what a brilliant experience one of the best I have had. I woukd recommend a stay or a pamper day to anyone. The facility is small but does what it says on the tin.

Great location. Staff are really helpful and polite. Breakfast is very good. Had a river view, which was beautiful. Attended one of their Christmas Party's nights, which was very good. Parking on site for a fee but reasonable.

Great location, and a nice hotel. However, it’s “nice”, not excellent. For £270 a night (due to them doubling the rate whenever there’s an event on in Durham) you could stay in a luxury hotel London. I’d recommend doing a bit more research as it’s really not great value for money.
