Eshcol House Nursing Home

My lovely dad spent the last 3 weeks of his life here and was very happy and well looked after. Charlotte was especially helpful to us on our calls and appreciated by our elderly dad in palliative care. An amazing seaside location which is currently expanding.

I am writing this review on the basis of my 90-year-old mother's reaction and feelings. She stayed here in 2019 for respite, when my sister and I were in desperate need. Eshcol fitted her in at short notice and specially got her room ready. She was SO happy at Eshcol House. She particularly liked the view of the sea from her window and delighted in watching children playing on the beach (fortunately she had excellent eyesight) She had nothing but praise for the staff and insisted on buying presents for everyone when she left. She enjoyed the meals and found the kitchen staff accommodating to her likes and dislikes. There were quite a few different entertainments and chances for socialising with other residents, like bands, singers, bingo, sitting in the beautiful garden, enjoying the smell of the sea and the view. There was a garden party with lots of stalls and she enjoyed spending money on bric-a-brac, raffle etc and listening to the singers playing all the 'old' songs which she sang along with. She said she was sad to leave.

Our first visit today. The staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming. They were very professional during their duties and care. Cleanliness was immaculate. Pets were made just as welcome as humans. Thankyou for all you are doing, it is very much appreciated.

My mother in law was in here for 2 and half years before she passed in November. I would like to tell you that in that time her purse was taken, she was given incorrect medication and some of her personal belongings went missing. Her room was never spotlessly clean, with her tray on which she used when she was in bed to rest her plate on, always having remains of food left on it. I have had to clean her room myself on several occasions. My mother in law did like it here and some members of staff were very kind and courteous. This is the reason I have rated it a three as improvements are very definitely needed!

Great location in picturesque village, as such it’s quite a drive from main town and cities, staff all seem friendly and keen to assist
