I could see Bodmin moor out of the rear window, two minutes from front door you are on it. Cottages well-appointed, clean with welcome pack of cream and scones, owners very friendly, parking available. Horse riding available across the road and we were told that the original Lloyd's black horse was bred there.

We stayed at Hallagenna Cottages, Old Barn, during October half term for a break with family and friends.Hallagenna Cottages is directly opposite Hallagenna Farm and gated with signs, so it is easy to distinguish between both on arrival.Mick and Janine were the ultimate hosts, and we felt like family throughout our stay. They could not do enough to help us and share tips on the surrounding area/places to visit, etc. I can not express how incredible they were all week - always greeted us with a welcome and smile. We stayed in Old Barn, and our friends stayed in another cottage onsite. Old Barn was immaculately clean and exactly what we were looking for - warm, cosy, and decorated both tastefully and to a high standard. All the rooms and living areas had plenty of space for our needs. What goes above and beyond other places that we've stayed at is the beautiful welcome pack of biscuits and scones and other treats. There are also lots of other extras in the apartment and kitchen that you don't find in other cottages such and washing up liquids, milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, cooking oil, drying cloths etc.The cups and plates are also of a high standard, and it shows how much care has gone into making the cottages just right. One thing the we felt Mick and Janine should highlight more is how thorough their cleaning is of the buildings and how much effort they put into ensuring everything is deep cleaned since Covid. The effort that goes into this blew our minds and way beyond anywhere else we have stayed. It's a huge testiment to themselves and the place! There's also individual parking spaces for each cottage, so you're never having to worry about finding somewhere to park.Mick and Janine's daughter has a candle making business. We were able to buy these onsite for gifts. They smelt amazing and were great value for money as well, in comparison to the prices of others we looked at in shops around Cornwall. I highly recommend getting these during your stay.Hallagenna Cottages are surrounded by the moors with a great variety of wildlife to be seen from your doorstep and great walking opportunities in every direction. We loved the Highland cows, the bridge crossing above the stream, as well as the many wild ponies roaming nearby.Mick and Janine recommended The Old Inn pub that was only a 10 minute walk down the road. We visited this place three times in the week, and the food portions were out of this world. We are already planning our next trip back and would not hesitate to recommend Hallagenna Cottages to everyone. If you're looking for a quiet, private place to stay, you won't find better than this place.

Beautiful location - very peaceful but central to most of Cornwall. Well equipped cottage with everything you need, very clean and bright. Scones and clotted cream were very welcomed and the milk in the fridge !!Owners Janine and Mick were very friendly but also not intrusive.Had a great week and would definitely return.

We rented two cottages, both were comfortable, well equipped and very clean. We stayed in the Old Barn which was cosy however Ladydown had issues with the heating and smelled a little damp. Some nice touches like milk, tea, hot chocolate and scones, jam and cream. Recommended for nice walks on the moors and walking distance of the pub and shop. Fix the heating issue this would be a four star. Hope that helps.

Lovely, homely and clean cottage. The area is beautiful, direct access to the Moor. Janine and Mick (and the rest of their family) are all very welcoming and friendly, to us and our dog who enjoyed every minute of his stay! Will definitely be back. Highly recommend Hallagenna Cottages.

Go there every year for horse riding over Bodmin moor. Never stayed in accommodation but recommend the location if you want to roam the moors for a couple of days. The whole area is stunning.

Excellent accommodation in beautiful location, ideal for moors and beaches.Mick and Janine are super hosts and the welcome bag with scones, jam, cream , biscuits etc is a lovely touch . Could not wish for a better place to stay, bed comfortable, shower excellent, all furnishings , equipment etc are to a very high standard and the cottage was spotlessly clean. Lovely to find somewhere that really welcomes dogs . I will definitely be going back next year.Date of stay: October 2020

Lovely hidden gem about 10 miles from Bodmin. A selection of cottages converted from old farm buildings. Owners are very welcoming left us a lovely cream tea on arrival. Cottages are very cosy and very clean WIFI connection is good. Very peaceful area a local post office shop and local pub just over a mile away both very good. You are within a half hour drive of Padstow, Port Issac and Fowy. Would highly recommend booking early as the perfect place for a staycation.
