Visited this place with my daughter and felt very uneasy from the off when entering the office it was disgusting stuff every where doesn’t look organised at all nearly fell over a random muddy welly just left out in pathway. Moving on to the stables they are run down and don’t look fit for purpose the pathway, horses are in atrocious conditions and look depressed. When doing a care experience there was roughly 14 kids all rammed in to one stable to care for the one horse, there was kids standing behind the horse I had to say to a few parents be careful incase it kicks out as the instructor didn’t give any safety debrief. All in all I think this place could do with a visit of the RSPCA to make sure if not put the levels of safety up to a decent standard. I won’t be returning and will be looking for somewhere different.

Attended a care experience and found no one seemed to care about the conditions the horses are in, the stables are grotty and look to be falling down. There is a male staff member who does the care experience who makes it quite enjoyable for the kids speaks a bit about safety around the horses where as others don’t just leave you to it. When doing the riding on the horses on the care experience is no longer than 1 minute 2 times within a hour the rest is brushing the horses and feeding them again left to it no safety advice to not stand behind the horses etc.. when doing the riding the paving is really loose and uneven twice that I seen a horse with a toddler on its saddle kick the paving think it’s only a matter of time until there’s a accident around that. Simple things like water buckets and feed buckets absolutely rank don’t look like they’ve been washed I’d go as far to say since they’ve had them. Staff in reception very rude related a question I asked to them about a “cancer” charity which I thought was very unnecessary. This defines the old saying “you get what you pay for” there’s a reason it’s only £5 cos the experience is woeful. 30 minutes brushing horses 2 minutes riding horses 18 minutes watching others ride the horses and 10 minutes feeding the horses.

Had a great time. Bernie runs a happy team of family and helpers ! All no what is expected of them and the open days earn cash she badly needs for the care of the horses and a couple cats on sight. Selling cups coffee and tea + burgers+ hot digs Nd home made cakes.

Shy Lowen is an amazing place. They re-home horses and ponies that need it and rescue these horses from all over the world. They dedicate so much time and effort into the local community giving young people a unique opportunity to work with and look after the animals.Shy Lowen also run many group and private lessons giving anyone the chance to ride a horse. I have taken my daughter here for years and have nothing but praise for the people who work there and the women that run the lessons.

We came here for the pony care for your daughter. It costs £5 (cash only) and kids can first groom the horse and then ride it twice. It all takes around 1h. The team is friendly and, particularly, they seem volunteering there you don't want to criticize. However, we felt a bit better communication of what is happening when, would be helpful for the kids. Again it costs £5 and therefore all good and highly recommended.

It’s a charity that rescues horses so not a lot of money but if you are offering horse riding lessons to children you must improve the conditions of the place and path leading to the arena . The amount of mud is quite frankly dangerous and unsafe for both children and horses, it’s an accident waiting to happen. It’s a shame as has the potential to be fantastic just needs the conditions improving, also found the staff can come across rude at times and not very welcoming.

I think it’s disgraceful. Asked if there was any availability for a riding lesson and they said very rudely “ today is not the day to phone up” and hung up.I’d even give 0 stars if I could, Wouldn’t reccomend here at all if ur looking for somewhere else I’d reccomend Bowlers riding school i used to go there it’s a bit more farther maybe another 15 minutes but it’s well better then here .

Found the conditions for the horses appalling, I know it doesn't have much money, but the horses looked uncared for and the grounds leading to the open air riding school atrocious. Being an ex jockey I was disgusted. The only plus was the girl teaching my niece was nice and knowledgeable.

Had a great time today, we booked the pony care experience and would do it again in a heartbeat, little one got to groom, stroke and learn about the horses and pony's. The staff were great and protective of both the animals and the kids. All the horses looked healthy and content, and no animal is left out regardless of rideability ect. To anyone thinking of attending please do, the work being done here is something special and they deserve all the support and buisness they can get. Thank you so much for making our summer holidays.
