Base Dance Studios

Gutted and in bits. I always work hard, however things in life cannot be helped. 2 cancelled trains, one 15 minute journey to another station for that train to be cancelled and the last delayed meaning I would miss the class. I ring up and asked for a simple transfer to another class not even a full refund of £15 and they wouldn’t do it. I’ve paid for 3 Ubers and 2 trains and they simply couldn’t put me in a class later. Now sat on a train on my way to London 6pm on a Tuesday wondering what to do now and quite upset after trying my best

The Base studio is great and stressful at the same time.I love the teachers, their style, I love that the app, the registration for a class and entering are so simple! But there are a few things which turned me away.First, a lot of classes marked as “All levels”, so, as a beginner, I decided it suits me too. Unfortunately, I was really stressed by an advanced class.Second, there are about 7~ rooms with about 300 people in total, but a small 10-people changing room and 2 toilets which cause a big lines and stress of not having a space to change.As teachers are awesome, I could accept two things above. But the third thing made me doubt if I want to keep attending this studio.3 times out of 4 the rooms are overloaded: I couldn’t see what teacher is doing at all and I didn’t have space make some important movements (someone even stepped on my foot). I was so stressed by the fact that I can’t even see the movements, that I had to leave earlier.I love dancing! So I am frustrated by the fact that classes are associated with the constant stress in my head.

Had an amazing week with great choreo classes; but classes are def overcrowded. I read in reviews their answer to a similar comment saying that the number of people in the room is appropriate according to something something whatever. The truth is, it is just overcrowded.

BASE has a great variety of different classes and teachers and the prices are just right.On the other note, it is not the safest dance school. As an example, there are no gender neutral toilets and changing rooms.It feels very controversial that they offer voguing classes, which should be inclusive for LGQTB+ communities and then they won't even offer proper facilities...

Honestly, there was a cover for the teacher that I initially wanted to take a class from, so I wanted to change classes and the lady at the reception was being so rude and gave me attitude on the phone. So I tried to go directly to the class and when I arrived in person I realised that the lady at the reception (who was in charge) was not even trying to be welcoming or helping and sent me away. I think there should’ve been made an exception or offered a different solution but they lost another client and that’s on her. Thanks for nothing.

Massive variety of classes, including well known folk you'll recognise from other London dance studios.Classes are often 90 minutes (at cheaper prices!), so you get more of a chance to learn the choreo. People pay before class (no door fee, just class fee) so teachers don't have to stop teaching to collect money from people.Since opening they've fixed the remaining bits and pieces - there are benches in change rooms now and mirrors in the studios don't get misty any more! No showers though.

A complete newbie here tried to take a beginner’s dancing class and left after 30 minutes with embarrassment.Me and my friend attended Olivia’s beginner choreography class on Wednesday evening, as we shortly realised - this is definitely not for beginners.The teacher was teaching very fast and most of the students here were properly advanced. Me and my friend stood at the back tried to learn the moves however it was just too fast and too complicated. We never felt so embarrassed and excluded at the same time.Funny enough that a girl next to us tried to talk with us, she told us she has only been here (this class) for 4 weeks - we were speechless.The teacher herself is very nice and cool, real good dancer.The staff there also very helpful.

Love the classes, very clean , they could do some refurbished of the toilets as they look quite old and too tiny . Also only 2 toilets for women is quite challenging considering the volume of classes per day.

Absolute beginner here.I went for the first time to Jaron Johnson’s dance classes on Sunday for beginners and although that was my first class ever (in my life), he made me feel so comfortable and GREAT.I wanted to speed up the process of learning and tried a class on Wednesday (beginners, someone was covering) and that was a complete disaster, I actually wanted to cry afterwards because I was so embarrassed how advanced it was and I couldn’t keep up. It was horrible.Back today to Jaron’s class and I am so happy because even though I’m not the best at this, I don’t feel like I’m in a competition, I’m just enjoying myself and having fun.Thank you Jaron for your patience, your amazing talent and dance moves. I’ll forever attend your classes!!! ❤️ you are my favourite and you are THE BEST!
