Underwhelmed by their Sunday roast offering and the service.Much of the food was warm rather than hot, well below an acceptable temperature. Another table complained when asked how their food was and there comments were not even acknowledged by the staff member! Given this we didn't even bother raising it. Will give this place a miss in the future.

Popped into this place after visiting Cragside house and gardens which was great and happily, the Village Inn was also great, I had the fish and chips and my wife had a hamburger and chips, one of the tastiest well cooked fish I’ve had in quite a while, the hamburger was also very tasty and was quite a large patty, chips also very nicely seasoned, staff were nice and the venue comfortable. If this was my local I’d definitely be back again.

The Village Inn B&B is a lovely little pub set right on the edge of the A697. There isn’t much parking available, we had to park down the road, not too far away, but it is a little frustrating. The pub has the usual decor, old style look, with wooden benches out front. The staff are pleasant and very polite. Our room was clean upon first inspection. Loved the red wall and the beams on the ceiling give it a rustic vibe. However, for some reason the room smelt strongly of BO, and no, it wasn’t me. It was definitely the room. There was also a strong pungent smell of stagnant water or sewerage when we first flushed the toilet. The bathroom while clean at first glance, did have huge cobwebs strewn about. Just very pleased no huge spiders! The double bed was very clean upon inspection, as were the towels. The bed was surprisingly very comfortable, but the curtains don’t reach the full width of the curtain rail, so on a morning when the sun is coming through, it hits you straight in the face because you can’t pull the curtain right up to the wall. Maybe have two curtains instead of one large one.Food was genuine pub grub and very nice. Beers are limited but a good small range. The bar area is pleasant but it’s a shame they don’t utilise the upstairs eating area, the decor here is really good. All in all, a lovely little B&B pub with polite staff and good food. You’d expect nothing else from the prices so no one can really complain about the lack of 4-star qualities, it’s a pub B&B, and a nice one of that!

Pretty standard pub food menu, but it is cooked and served to a decent standard. All day brunch is good. Scampi is good. Kids' food is really good. Ours had the fish strips, excellent quality fish finger replacements. And the sausage and mash, lovely sausages! Pub was dead at lunchtime but nice enough environment, with games in the window sill for the kids, nice touch. Smart venue with comfortable seats and tables. Parking could be difficult if it's busy, but we got a space right out the front. Toilets are smart and clean.

Passing through and called in on the off chance with my wife and 2 seven years old grandsons. The carvery meal was fantastic. A great value super fresh meal served with a great portion of succulent meats. Full of main course, the desserts were thoroughly enjoyed and the twins loved the flour-less chocolate tortes!! A fab family meal at a fab low cost. Your staff were so helpful and an asset to your gastro!!You'll definitely see us again and soon.
