The Red Lion

Ah, what a great place! I ate a meal and had a pint in the back garden at the Red Lion today after work. I could see acres of rolling fields from where I sat, and could hear all sorts of birds. The service was great, and the food was tasty. I was impressed that the proprietor got both of the items I ordered -- a goat-cheese-mushroom starter and a plate of chips -- cooked so well. Many pubs can only handle either the high cuisine or the junk-food, but here I had both perfect salad and nicely browned chips. The Red Lion is just around the corner from the stop for the S3 bus, so, while you can't hear the buses while you eat, you can get on the bus very easily once you've finished. All that, and they have a creamy bitter on tap. I don't really know what could be improved.

Lovely little pub. Attended my Grandmother's wake here and they did her a beautiful spread and the staff where fantastic...

The Beer is definitely delicious and tasty. We love this pub and wish we could sleep on the pub bench and not be told to go home,

Very friendly atmosphere and homely pub. Locals are lovely and happy to chat. Staff are very friendly and cheery. Child and pet friendly. Overall a very clean and traditional pub, lovely.

Fantastic Bar just done my partners 40th birthday party there. All the staff are amazing. The party was amazing, good party food great DJ . Thank you.

Great that this pub had been turned around. Well done very friendly staff.Kids playing football in the bar area made it impossible for me to tolerate though.

This pub has it all!! Great food, great atmosphere and above all, has great staff who have supported the community so much during lockdown.Will keep coming back

I play for the Red Lion pool team and always really enjoy myself here. Staff are friendly and there's a sense of community among the visitors. There's a decent selection of drinks, along with fireplace and big garden with a view of fields.

Friendly staff, good beer, a fun evening with karaoke. There are also a pool table, dartboard, and two large televisions that were on earlier in the evening to show a major football game. I didn't try the food so I cannot comment on that. The decor is a little tired but otherwise it's a good basic local pub.
