Lovely location and good food,if only it was hot. Service was poor. Down to the bar being unmanned most of the time and everything seeming an effort for most of the staff. Card machine didn't work,on any occasion when purchasing drinks. I was asked to check my online bank account to see if payment had gone through. Despite having to pre order, being a larger party, food came out painfully slowly. Asked for a couple of sauces, of which, only one came out. No check in with staff to see if we had everything,or if all ok. Had to approach staff to take coffee order. The list goes on. On the whole,a disappointing visit.

This hotel is beautiful such a country feel to it. Staff are all lovely and we was upgraded to the biggest room for our sons birthday which was lovely of them. I would give this hotel an overall 4 and actually it does say this is a 4star aswell and I can see why, we really did enjoy our stay here. Location is perfect with lots of beautiful land to visit with animals in every corner❤ the hotel does need some Tlc!!! A little paint and the cleaners need to get rid of cob webs etc.we also suffered with mosquitos in the bathroom. Bathrooms a little dated and needs a freshen up. Beds was very comfortable though. The hotel it self is lovely just needs a good freshen up as carpets do have a little odour to them in some areas. We dined here and the food wasn't a great choice I would suggest a different menu for some evenings maybe ?

Went here for a wedding. Rooms, bed and pillows very comfortable but cleanliness lacking. Bathroom had lots of black mould around bath, one light not working and duvet cover had hole in it. Chairs in restaurant badly stained and they had no tomato sauce ! Also breakfast was barley warm.Carpets also in need of good clean. Beautiful location and wedding was beautifully done. Just these few things needed addressing

Initially a great appearance to this lovely hotel. We enjoyed an afternoon tea before checking in and this was wonderful, really fresh and great quality. The room was fine although with sloped ceilings and me being 6ft tall it made getting round the bed quite awkward. Lift out of order which we were made aware of but 2nd storey room was generally okay. Bathroom dated with a fiddly shower, not easy to get a good temperature and pressure was not anything to be excited about. Breakfast was very disappointing which was a shame given the excellent afternoon tea the day before, not a great selection (no potato option and no pancakes as advertised) my wife and I ordered poached eggs as the scrambled looked very pale and about 15 mins later we received one each. Would have been nice to have a couple but wasn't even asked. Bacon fatty, Sausages not good and beans were lukewarm at best. Room felt dark. On the plus side the glasses for fruit juice were a good size. The pool was also unfortunately disappointing, there is no changing room just a walk-through to the pool where you can change (no cubicles) pool room seemed dark and temperature was not warm. Tried to order a drink at the bar on our first evening, waited for 10 mins and no one was there to serve us. We had to walk to the restaurant at the other end of the hotel to ask for someone to serve behind the bar. Drinks are quite pricey. Generally staff are welcoming and friendly, but unfortunately we won't be staying again.

Not an easy place to find track needs work and better signageVery old fashioned and dark. Extremely slow service we waited an hour from starters for our mains. Bread roll before meal was nice. Turkey very dry, roast potatoes burnt. After I got wrong dessert my so called Vanilla ice cream was white and tasted nothing like it should. Staff walking up and down dining room but nobody came to us. One of our party had to come and chase up the meal as taxi was booked for 2.30 and we didn't eat until half 1. Very disorganised brought bread rolls but had to go back for butter, brought coffee but no cups there were only 8 people eating so why was it so slow?

Went for Sunday lunch for a special birthday and chose this place as we wanted something a bit more upmarket than a pub. Lovely location and an impressive building. Inside is a bit tired and could do with a repaint and some TLC. As we were a large group (9) we were asked to complete our menu choices a few days in advance. Fine, no problem with that. When we phoned the choices through though, we were asked what menu we had used (we used the Sunday lunch menu on their website) and were told it was the wrong one so we'd have to choose on the day. Waste of time! On the day the service was not good. Waiting staff were thin on the ground, not very welcoming, and didn't seem in a hurry to do anything. There were only two groups dining, so it's not like they were rushed off their feet. They took ages to take a drinks order, drinks on the menu weren't available and the waiter tried to get me to accept what he'd already brought up from the cellar rather than check they had what I wanted. They seemed intent on trying to remember our choices and had to come back twice to check - it would have been far easier and less embarrassing for them if they'd written it down like most waiters do. It took an hour and a half for us to get our starters, which, from a quality perspective were ok but nothing outstanding. Some of our party had to wait longer for their food so we weren't all able to eat together. Unfortunately it got worse from there as the mains then took another age to arrive. The mains were not good - I've never had such a tough, fatty piece of sirloin, the roast potatoes were dry, the Yorkshire pudding was like a dry piece of toast and the only redeeming part of the main course (a parsnip puree) was only a tiny amount. The people who had the roast chicken said it was very dry. The two people who had the roast gammon said it was nice, but the other seven of us didn't enjoy the food at all. Then, as the waiting staff had disappeared, we had to walk to reception and wait for somebody to appear before we could ask for the bill. The place desperately needs new management and some proper investment. We certainly won't be returning. Wish we'd just gone to the pub....

This was my second time here. A lovely hotel but it does feel a bit tired and could do with a refresh. It is really good to see that they accept dogs but there is a bit of an aroma in parts. A beautiful view if you have a room at the back, worth asking when you book.We had a look around the grounds and thought there was a lovely tennis court but it’s been turned into a overflow car park and not used which is a shame. It is a lovely building down a track in the middle of the countryside and beautifully quiet. A lovely setting. I think however that it was over priced for what it is. We paid around £180 without breakfast. I took my sister for a night away as a treat but was a bit disappointed.
