Expressive Voice

When I first went to see Jen I had never sung in front of anyone other than family, now I'm happy to sing, not only in front of her, but also in class among other singers! Jen's unique, non-judgemental and encouraging style of teaching is very authentic. She has helped me become more confident in trying new things, exploring my voice and healthily channelling my emotions into my singing. On top of this Jen has a deep underlying, extremely impressive, level of technical knowledge which she shares to help me improve. She demonstrates a fantastic level of empathy in each class which evokes in you an ability to have complete freedom of expression - pivotal to developing your unique creativity. I highly recommend her!

I started seeing Jennie after struggling for many months with throat problems. I was very nervous to start singing again and was desperate to gain confidence back to start writing and performing my own songs again. From the very first session Jennie made me feel very comfortable and helped give me motivation and hope to continue with this career path. Something very special about Jennie is that she will adjust each session to your needs and won't necessarily follow a set structure to the lesson because each week may bring a new thing to focus and work on. Jennie is very good at finding the perfect strategy to each area I feel I'm struggling with and brings a comforting and friendly approach to each lesson. I feel very lucky to have found such a well suited vocal coach. Highly recommend Jennie for anyone looking for a warm and approachable yet extremely professional and precise coach.

When I first came to Jennie I had lost all my confidence in singing despite having been a professional singer some years before.Jennie has a warmth and calm that makes you feel able to achieve anything. Her approach is detailed and technical without being daunting and she ensures you feel comfortable and encouraged at all times.I now earn a living as a singer and coach myself and am very thankful for the support and training I received from Jennie.I highly recommend her to anyone of any level.

I joined Jenny May singing classes to reignite a lost passion for singing again. As a newbie to London it can feel sometimes over whelming, however when I met Jenny and the other singers in the class it gave a real sense of home again. I found Jenny incredibly heart warming, kind and undoubtedly positive. She is a very talented singer and musician and we practised some interesting singing techniques to improve our vocals. The cherry on the cake was that our small group had a lot of fun with it too. Highly recommend her and can't wait to return again!

Having had lessons (albeit sporadically) with Jenny for around 10 years, I would recommend her lessons and workshops to anyone looking to get into, or improve their singing. You always feel good after a lesson and crucially she always finds great ways to work on that word/line/verse that you are struggling with. Her group workshops are great fun too.

I’ve been to Jen’s vocal gym twice now. Both times were totally unique and valuable experiences- Jen does something that is so powerful for all levels of vocalists, which is to open up a space for true exploration and discovery. I absolutely love that Jen allows you to find your own way, and deftly drops in helpful information but only when it is really needed. Both times I’ve been, I experienced something new in my voice that has both encouraged me to keep exploring and confirmed that I’ve progressed from before. Both times Jen used a simple framework for the class that allows so much agency and ownership in what I was doing, rather than being asked to follow specific exercises or meet a defined goal. Not like any other singing class I’ve been to, but so perfect and needed for my own development. I can’t wait to go again! Thanks for what you do Jen!

I started working with Jen 6 months ago when I decided my passion for singing deserved a bit of attention.As a complete beginner without any previous training, Jen gently guided me into finding my voice and understanding true singing as something greater than technical ability, but rather as a means of self-expression.Jen identifies at each stage of my development what are the new set of skills that can help me expand my ability; she has a holistic attitude and will go through different methods, techniques, or whatever crazy approach, to help me find out what works best for me, for each song.Jen has an easy-going personality and is absolutely lovely to work with!

Hands down the best vocal coach i have ever had!.. a warm atmosphere from the moment i walked into the rehearsal room when greeted by Jenny. One of the first things Jenny asked me was 'What do you want from these classes?' and it caught me quite off guard but was a very important question! we got straight to work and she made me more aware of the faults and sometimes lazy things i do whilst singing that i had no idea of before! I can't wait to get back to her classes.. I would recommend Jenny any day! Extremely passionate, incredible teacher and person.

I've been singing for a number of years now, but for someone who has lost confidence over the years, and almost losing that passion I have for singing, the group singing classes with Jennie really boosts my confidence every time I go. It has made me fall in love with singing again! Great lessons, get to meet lovely like minded people. I'm excited to have one to ones with Jennie, she has a soft, encouraging approach to teaching, and really gives you that push you need to see what your voice can really do. I'm always looking forward to the next class, its something different every time!

Jennie is an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher. She is much more than 'just a singing teacher'. She has taught me so much, from the technical side of using my voice and some music theory, to fun voice warm ups. I have gained in confidence through Jennie's thorough teaching. She spotted my uniqueness and has encouraged me to develop my own singing style. We work on interesting, unique and beautiful songs and she helps me with my writing as well. Always bright and cheerful but real at the same time, I've loved my lessons.
