Evelyn Street Launderette

11:00am and 12:30 pm.Wasted my time twice already. Even it says open during lockdown.

I got turned away even though there were several washing machines open and the shop didn’t close for three more hours. Very confused.

Previous as hoc experience had been positive; friendly staff and reasonably priced. However yesterday I went at 5pm and the stated closing time was 6pm. I was not allowed to wash and told last wash was an hour ago, 4pm. I quoted the stated closing time to which the response was ' I'm closing at half 5 today as it's been quiet all day'. Frustrating.

Came here a couple of weeks ago. The lady in the launderette was friendly. I went in because I needed machines with a large capacity as I was washing duvets, coats, jackets and jeans. I specifically wanted a hot wash 60 degrees or over and made this clear.Asked what temp the machines went up to (only 1 of the 3 large machines we used had the temperatures displayed) 1 of the machines ran on a cold wash throughout the cycle. The others were probably at 30-40 degrees. Made the attendant aware and she initially said the machin runs the clothes through a cold cycle after the hot wash" but I was sat by the machine and touched the glass throughout and it was cold from begining to end and told her so. So she called the manager/ owner who simply said "we don't offer refunds. Your clothes are washed and cleaned so there's nothing more to do." Terrible attitude and service on her part. Firstly

So rude, they pick and choose when they want to be kind and fair. I made it in time to use the dryers, as I arrived at final wash time but before I could speak they were complaining at me. Once I explained I was only drying a duvet, they became friendly.What made it more unfortunate is that a family came in enough time for final wash but they sent them away because they said final wash is 30mins before the time displayed on the wall. Then they began to make jokes and laugh quietly at the family.I live around the corner, walking distance and prefer to DRIVE to New Cross Launderette, much nicer staff and service.

Isn't it so much more pleasant to be served by someone who seems to be happy in their job?That's certainly the case here at this local launderette. The service is friendly, helpful and comes with a smile. Unless they seriously mess something up, a launderette business is much the same as another really. So it pays to make your customers feel welcome. It's not the nearest place that does washing to where I live or work but it's on my route and I would rather stop off here than go anywhere else. It is a well equipped launderette with washing machines of various sizes including an extra large one and several tumble dryers. They also do service washes and dry cleaning. You can buy detergents here in case you forget them. There's no change machine but Staff are always there to help and assist with change so no problem!! :)

The dryer was out of order in my flat so I brought my wet washed clothes here for drying after checking out the reviews. After drying, my clothes really stunk. I am sure that was not from the washing as I used antibacterial conditioner for washing. The staff was really friendly and helpful but the hygiene needs improvement. Due to the good service I added one star back to my review.

Helpful friendly staff. Large machine is £6 as needed for my king size duvet. You don't have to have exact money which is less stress they have change and put my machine on for me. Takes an hour to wash. Went back and it was in all ready to be picked up. Thank you all at Evelyn Laundrette

Many of the machines are broken and of the two I used only one made the clothes clean the other simply wet the closed they came out really smelly! Thought it was odd that I couldn’t stay while my washes were on and I couldn’t wait to see the machines start, again really weird

I like this launderette and think it is of reasonable price compared to the others around. The staff are always happy and welcoming and service is great. I occasionally also give them my duvets to service wash and I've had no problems. Also think its great that you can purchase a cup of soap/conditioner. Very customer friendly.
