Vets Now High Wycombe
Greeting was good and fortunately on a Saturday evening, there weren’t too many other patients so a short wait.Discussed my pet’s problem with the vet and agreed that anti-sickness, antibiotic and painkilling injections were a good course of action as she had been vomiting non-stop all day and before I could see my own vet on Monday. I was left to wait on my own with my pet for over 20 minutes. As I asked the receptionist to find out where the vet was, she reappeared. I was pleased that she has two syringes of hydrating electrolytes as well the agreed drugs, plus 4 vials of painkiller to give her over the next 36 hours. When I got my pet home I was horrified that her pupils were dilated and she could barely stand up. My issue is that I was not told that the painkilling drug given was buprenorphine - a heroin substitute - or the possible side effects. My poor pet was disoriented, agitated and couldn’t sleep until the drug wore off. After I’d looked it up online I did not give her the rest. I honestly thought she was dying and that my visit to my own vet would be for euthanasia. When the drugs wore off, she slept for 24 hours and is now back to her normal self. When the vets now vet said she was giving a painkiller, I expected something like meloxicam, not an opiate strength drug as the first choice - something past pets have had in their last days.My pet had a stomach upset, which I agree could have been a symptom of something worse. But I’m angry that this was prescribed without any knowledge of my pet’s previous medical history and without any blood tests to confirm kidney failure and also knowing that I was seeing my own vet on the Monday.

Waited almost 2 hours to see the vet out of hours, charged £318 to see the vet for 10 minutes and given pain killers at a highly inflated cost. Insurance claim form had to be chased 2 weeks later and was then declined to be complete even though payment for this had been made at the time of the appointment. Lots of phone calls and time wasted to get the issue resolved. Only good thing is that the vet was nice and managed to get my dog out of pain until I could see my own vet the next day

Incredibly caring vets. We had to take our beautiful dog Monty on bank holiday Monday evening and found he was in end stage heart failure. The vet and nurse were incredibly kind and caring and were so patient with us at a very emotional time. Thankyou for everything and showing such care to Monty which helped us through some very hard emotion and heartbreak.

Please, please do not take your pets here. Our dog was unwell so we took him to the out of hours clinic in High Wycombe. He was diagnosed with kennel cough and sent home with advice from the vet to give him honey and to be patient with his recovery. A week later, he was not recovering and his condition worsened. We took him back to the emergency vets at 3am where they said they couldn’t find the issue with him. They gave him another anti-sickness injection and some pain relief. I asked the vet if she would scan his stomach and she said ‘we are not there yet.’ We were told to monitor his condition and take him to the day vet if he didn’t improve. Feeling very worried, I took him to the day vet just hours later where they confirmed he had swallowed a rubber disc whole. It was an inch wide and was stuck in his intestine. The vet at our day practice confirmed he was days away from dying. Vets Now allowed my dog to be seen in an emergency setting, with no real resolution to the pain he was in. He was misdiagnosed on the first visit, then was victim to inattentiveness and lack of care on his second visit. Do not take your poor animals here - my dog was days from dying due to their lack of care to identify the cause of his pain. Many complaints on here are around the cost of the service, however like most, we would have paid anything for him to feel better. It’s not about the cost, they couldn’t even be bothered to properly assess and put his life at risk.

We had to say goodbye to our beloved dog on bank holiday Monday and everyone - vets, nurses, receptionist - was so kind and ensured our girl had a dignified and peaceful passing. Very grateful to you all. I truly felt you cared for Sookie and us. Thank you

I found it a friendly. the staff were very accommodating and moved me to a quiet room as my dog was being vocal. He was seen by the vet quickly and medication was prescribed for him I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs emergency treatment straight away.Thankyou once again for all your help.S greenwood

An emergency at 330am bank holiday, being to far away from our usual emergency vets we were recommended Vets now. What was an awful wake up call from our beloved Rottweiler Ronnie, Brian took our very stressful call & handled it so calmly & positively.when we got there Brian again handled “us” with a calm trusting manner that we will always be so so grateful for. With Ronnie being 11 years old & after 6 months of her health declining we decided it was time for our girl to pass.At this point Irene the vet with her gentle demeanor & calming presence made the experience 1000 times better for us all. I know Brian & Irene are animal lovers it was so obvious to me, Irene treated her with so much love & gentleness til the end. We’re forever remember the kindness you showed.

Beware: eye-watering expensive. A visit out of hour would cost you 317£ and you then have any treatment on top. I’m my case an injection that was another 130£. They didn’t tell us anything about price when we phoned. Care was fine, although my dog’s care was very straightforward. They saw us immediately.

Very efficient service! Our dog had a possible emergency so we called the nearest Vet. The gentleman on the phone was very polite and helpful. After explaining our problem he took our details and then personally spoke to a nurse. He told us not to worry but also said we could go in and speak to a nurse or vet for more assistance. The Nurse greeted us at the door and totallu took away our worry. Very impressed with their kindness. Thank you!

Honestly the loveliest nurse and vet I have ever met. Fortunately there was nothing wrong with my cat, he was just being dramatic for no reason and scared the life out of me, but the vets reassured me that nothing is obviously wrong with him and nothing that would require emergency care. Most of the bad reviews here are due to pricing, and I don’t understand why as when going to an out of hours vets, you should expect to have to pay quite a bit of money, these people cannot work 24/7 for free. This is the case with every out of hours vet, so no one is trying to rip you off or anything like that. I have nothing but positive things to say about my trip to the vet tonight, and just really wanted to come on here and thank you so much for how you treated me.
