NIALL QUINN CENTRE is a children's outpatients department within Sunderland Royal Hospital, it is situated just to the right as you enter the grounds from the Kayll Road entrance. The centre has a bright and airy waiting room with books, colouring in station, toys and a television usually showing an animation movie to keep the children occupied while waiting. It is a clean, safe and friendly environment. The staff there are amazing with the children, from reception staff, health care assistants, nurses and doctors. I have visited several times so far with my daughter whilst we try to get to the bottom of her health problems and I must say that I cannot fault any of the staff, or the centre itself. It is a purpose built hospital outpatients department for children and it is definitely centred around the child, putting the child first and involving both parents / guardians and the child in any decision making or care planning. It has toilets and vending machine within the department, if you need something more substantial to eat there is a WRVS shop, a cafe and a restaurant within the main hospital building. Parking is much easier since the multi storey car park was built, however there is a few car parking spaces as well as several disabled ♿ parking spaces right outside the NIALL QUINN CENTRE. The car park has Parking Eye and the machines to pay on exiting the hospital are situated inside the main building at certain points such as main entrance, A&E and Adult Outpatient department. Failure to pay results in a parking fine of around £70. People with a blue badge must register with security office just behind main entrance desk (need blue badge and car registration) and you will be exempt from parking charges for that and further visits as your car registration will be registered with security staff. There are children's out patients departments within many of our hospitals and it often comes down to the locality and distance to which one you will use for your child however I highly recommend NIALL QUINN CENTRE for their environment, behaviour and approach with children and their adults, professionalism, knowledge and expertise.
