AVOID AVOID AVOID = Waste of time and money putting my money to these. After instructing the sheriffs office to recover a fairly large debt some time back, they sent around officers who just knock on the door and if the debtor does not answer they simply leave a letter with a contact number and leave. It would appear that the easiest way a debtor can avoid high court sheriffs is to simply just not answer the door and ignore the letters and this was confirmed by the companies representatives, they stated our agents will not wait at a property or climb fences etc, like they do in the TV series that they promote on their website. Not a great deal to be gained using sheriffs over bailiffs, even though the company told me their Sheriffs had more powers than a Bailiff prior to instructing them, if they have then they certainly do not seem to want to use them, if the debtor just simply ignores them the sheriffs are very quick to leave the debtor property and rely on a letter pushed through the door to work,If you watch the TV series and expect the same level of service you will be disappointed as in real life it simply does not happen, i am guessing the people owing money and engage willingly with the sheriffs get results, but if the person owing you money is a bit more difficult then these are the ones that no one wants to resolve as it will eat into the sheriffs commission time and rate.Think carefully and look at all options before instructing Sheriffs, as what is portrayed on TV is very different to what happens in real life, research what powers a Sheriff actually has as you could end up throwing good money after bad going via the Sheriffs route.

Thanks Lloyd for dead-end insight. For anyone who doesn't have a pre-existing relationship with the firm, please read below. To coberate the experience of all the other feedback (excluding Lloyd who seems to be someone who attracts debtors). There is no case management. In my case where they went out served letters but didn actually come up with any tangible plan to recover the debt (as evidenced by reports which have to be repeatedly requested) it was hit and miss. In my case they missed and I still do £5000.If they had a plan other than going out randomly, they could have waited, impounded a vehicle, and used it to leverage the debt or at least as repayment plan. As it is, I just go to pay their fees. My hope is they put it towards some clown suits for the next TV series.

Don't bother, don't waste your £90! The Sheriffs Office had my case for two years and said the money was unrecoverable, they were utterly hopeless. I had to get all the information for them, they did very little. After 2 years of doing very little, I transferred the case to Direct Collection Bailiffs Limited (DCBL) and they recovered the debt in full within 3 weeks.Despite The Sheriffs Office doing nothing they still charged me £90.

Having enlisted the services of The Sheriffs Office regarding a business debt that we thought was never going to get paid (even with a CCJ), I have only positive things to say about the experience. Assistance and guidance was provided initially to get things in place and updates were provided every step of the way, ending in full payment of the debt plus costs/interest. I would use them again without hesitation.

They consistently lie about time frames, they never get back to you and I can almost guarantee they won’t recover the money for you then get extremely aggressive on the phone when you tell them they didn’t follow the time frames. Even proving it by sending the emails with the written time frames on it!What’s even funnier about this is despite the debtor getting a stay and me telling them about it they still humiliated themselves by visiting outside of the timeframes and having to be told by the debtor they couldn’t recover the money !! Well at least they were publicly humiliated if nothing else.Complacency will destroy this businessThey never reply to any emails either. Utterly useless. Go use another company

I seem to be having much the same issue as other people stated. Despite me pointing out that i have two writs against two people at the same address, they have been acted on separately and took ages to do so, which means in the mean time one of them has applied for a stay of execution when they could have taken her car weeks ago. Very little effort seems to have been made to gain entry to the property, a simple 'no you're not coming in' has been enough to keep the bailiffs away. All the updates start with 'we are pleased to announce the following activity' and then state that nothing has been achieved. Not impressed by the service so far. Also, you never get to speak to an actual Sheriff and so just rely on someone in the call centre relaying the information you have given them and waiting ages for more in depth replies.

The Sheriff's Office were able to impose a stronger incentive to the debtor than the Bailiff due to the High Court Enforcement.I found that their communication in keeping me up to date with circumstances was excellent and payment took place generally as the plan was modelled. Where exceptional circumstances occurred, is Covid-19, they allowed the debtor to miss and informed meatball times of the revised plan. Excellent service all-round.

I cannot praise these guys enough. After sucessfuly taking someone to court for money owed, and reluctantly agreeing a payment plan, which the debtor defaulted on at the first hurdle, I contacted the Sheriffs Office. Right from the start they have acted with my best interests as their priority. I gave them as much information as I possibly could about the debtor. I have had good communication wit them, and they have kept me updated on their actions.I was delighted to receive an email from them to advise that they had been able to obtain the money that was owed to me.I would reccomend anyone that is owed money to use this company.Very professional, and a very effective way of getting what is owed. For all the moaners out there, it is quite simple, if you owe, pay up.

We have had very hit and miss results. All a debtor has to do to get out of paying is just deny they are the person on the paperwork - it is as simple as that. For one debtor we got money back through a different route, yet we still had to pay this companies fee for not 'finding' the debtor. In response to the owners response.Your agent literally asked are you Mr 'Y' just outside the debtors verified new address, the debtor just responded 'no'.We provided photo ID of debtor, he has various social media accounts where his face can be clearly seen. Total lack of due diligence. My brother tried on various occasions speaking with your agents on the given number - totally unhelpful.Maybe cases like these could feature on your TV series as a counterpoint to the rose tinted view shown.
