Port Glasgow Golf Club

We played the course as a fourball on Tuesday 19th September.On arriving we were given a warm welcome by the club captain, Tommy Bryceland.We were greeted on the first tee by the head green keeper Jim McCurdy who gave us advice on the layout of the course. Jim then met us as we went to play holes 5-9 to point out the intricacies of those holes.The course itself was in great condition bearing in mind the heavy rain that had fallen the previous few days and is a credit to the green keeping staff.The course lies on a hill so there are some taxing climbs but the views from on high over the Firth of Clyde make the climb worthwhile.An altogether thoroughly enjoyable experience at Port Glasgow Golf Club where the gentlemen mentioned above went that extra mile to make the experience so good.

Played their open today. Extremely welcoming, and was told everything I needed to know about the course by the committee member that was taking the cards (he was excellent). Course itself was in decent condition. Very difficult with 40mph winds but I really enjoyed the experience. Plenty of prizes on offer too for nearest the pins etc. Happy to get a bottle, and would recommend playing in their open to anyone.

The golf course is in superb condition from tee to green.

Absolutely appalling treatment from staff and management" tonight at a family function. Our family have had a lot of parties in here and have never had the ignorance that I was treated with tonight. Horrendous!"

Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone for function hire. Booked here for my wedding reception, during my multiple meetings with the club prior to this I was promised by the club captain, Tommy - that we would have multiple buggy’s made available for our wedding party to head to the top of the course to have our formal pictures taken… on the day of my wedding Tommy was nowhere to be seen, no buggy’s were available and no staff knew of any such plan, instead myself and my bridal party had to trod through the muddy/wet course to find a spot to take pictures, the bar staff all night long harassed my guests for being outside, refused to open any doors to the beer gardens so those were inaccessible, no smoking allowed on the grounds (ANYWHERE). The bar manager had a go at my husband for smoking even in the car park. With permission I left behind some decor to be collected the next morning including my cake! Came to collect the next morning and the wedding cake was no where to be seen. The staff’s attitude towards ourself and our guests was just an absolute joke, really put a dampener on the day which is unfortunate as we payed the club a great deal for this!
