Southwold Pier

Foot long battered sausage and chips with chipotle Mayo after a long afternoon walk along the coast from Kessingland followed by a locally brewed beer in the Sole Bay Inn under the lighthouse. What was just a little dot on the horizon had many hidden treats!

It's a seaside town pier, and let's face it they're not terribly fashionable any more. Southwold itself is quite classy but the pier is just a bit quirky and naff. It could be lively with some investment but that seems unlikely.The redeeming feature for us was the cafe halfway along, which was delightful. It also has the wall of crazy mirrors attached, which are always amusing.The amazing number of little plaques around the pier are worth reading; some are touching, some poignant, while others are mildly amusing.

Beautiful beach with stunning pier and lots of parking nearby! Beach huts make a pretty sight either side of the pier lining the beach promenade. It’s a lovely beach to wander along and you can venture into the lovely town which has a good variety of shops, cafes and restaurants!

A delightful and quaintly British tourist attraction. I visited on a very quiet day but imagine that it would be a very popular hotspot for holiday makers and day trippers. The whole pier appears well maintained and clean and the lack of noisy in your face amusement arcades is a definite plus!

Nice short pier in the affluent town of Southwold.There are places to eat, souvenir shop and a traditional arcade along the length of it.The end allows you to easily look back towards the sea front and town.It's just very nice. The restaurant is of a particularly high standard.

If you enjoy sea, sand and traditional seaside cafe food, then this is it. But being a 'local' for the last twenty years, I have to say that's even better once the holiday frenzy dies down. We timed our recent visit at the end of the afternoon as day visitors we're leaving & the B&B crowd were just getting over the shock of eating out; a friend with a beach hut had an open evening which was great. Treated ourselves to two huge scoops of ice cream each. Then, chilled, & away from the high street, queued for ten minutes just before the cafe on the pier closed. Not too pricey, decent sized fishcakes, & excellent chips. Enjoyed as the evening was drawing in & everyone was going home.

Lovely pier, really nice arcade, decent shops and café. The under the pier show arcade is a unique experience. I definitely recommend the quantum tunnelling telescope

Absolutely love the beautiful stretch of white beach sand and the joy of everyone out and enjoying themselves. Children building sand castles, or perhaps the adults enjoying it just as much. Lovely shops and places to eat in the town and overall lovely and clean. To see the colourful beach huts that seem to go on forever. All well kept and a joy to see. Walk ways along the beach was so worth the walk and see the lovely views out into the sea. Next time will make a weekend of it.

A good old fashioned seaside town. Nice beach and plenty of parking down by the pier. We'll worth a visit just to see the beach huts. A short walk into the town as well.

Nice place great views, typical British pier, fish and chips and an arcade, what more could you ask for. Can definitely recommend the alternative arcade on the pier full of weird and wonderful attractions great fun, would have been 5 stars but some of the pier was under repair. Completion in 2024
