PureGym Sheffield Crystal Peaks

Gym has lots of new equipment and staff are friendly. My main issue is the temperature- it’s just way too hot, especially upstairs where all the cardio equipment is. This has been mentioned by quite a few people to staff who have said the air con is set to 21 degrees and cannot be changed. I do like the gym, however please take the heating down a couple of degrees.

The staff are great and the atmosphere is very good. However there is not enough fitness equipment which is a real shame. Sorry pure gym your facilities are normal excellent but this gym does not use the space very well.

Decent gym let down by the lack of hygiene. No cleaning equipment to wipe machines down after its been covered in sweat from multiple other users especially as the gym is so warm. Not hard to have spray bottles and roll positioned at cleaning stations but expect thats due to it being a budget gym.

Never thought I'd actually love going to the gym. Joined in August, fed up with how I looked & felt, and never looked back. Particular praise for Liam & Amir who have really helped with their welcoming approach & gentle pushes!

Amazing gym and the classes are thought out and extremely good. I am loving the gym and the classes. The personal trainers are helpful and experienced. The equipment is great, everything is great. 11 out of 10.

Places gym was better, but people were left with the only option to join this gym as it'sthe only one in that area after Places closed. I was surprised when I saw that most of the cardio equipment, which was a highlight of Places Gym, has now gone at Pure Gym. The focus here seems to be more on weights over cardio. They've got rid of the women's gym little space and also with the TV sets, and nothing was done to replace them. There are a lot of empty spaces now, which seems like a waste. One has to wait to use weight equipment, and sometimes it's annoying as people spend time looking at their phones instead of getting on with it, and the gym admin doesn't do anything about it. The equipment is not distributed in a logical way. With the amount of space available, it would make sense to have upper body equipment on one level and lower body equipment on another, but they're all scattered around. More cardio equipment would definitely be a good improvement, and move it downstairs as it makes no sense to have cardio on the upper level, which is the warmest and makes it very uncomfortable in summer.

Just been on opening day - very clean brand new equipment, no bloat equipment everything has been clearly thought about - the benches are too close together for the dumbbell section though. Needs mirrors at the deadlift/squat rack area too. Overall a massive improvement on what places gym was.

Just been for the first time today after having been a member at another PureGym in Sheffield. This one is leagues above! Firstly, the staff are actually around and approachable, not hiding in an office. It's really clean and tidy, which encourages members to keep it that way. Plenty of platforms and space to do circuits downstairs. Loads of machines for weights and cardio, plus another smaller area upstairs for stretching/circuits. They've utilised the space well. The changing rooms are spacious and showers are amazing and hot! Could just do with a couple more cubicle changing rooms. Can't comment on parking yet, and i did go mid afternoon but all round would recommend currently. Great value for money.

Yes. It's ok and like any gym it's what you personally make of it for you. With regards to the gym, obviously it's good value just as it's predecessor was. Places Gym. However it does lack in certain areas. I understand it caters for all and I mean ALL! That is great, but it would be nice for a gym chain like Pure gym to have properly consulted real pros sometimes. For ME, I feel there isn't enough of the equipment to cover some of the staple weight lifting, strength trainer/ builder out there. From my observations most who attend are there for those reasons and not so much CV equipment which BTW there is sooo much of. The bank of Olympic weight lifting area is a bit awkward too. For ME it would have served better having more actual racks than what is there now and with the strange huge area that doesn't really get fully utilised there could have been placed a purposed area for Olympic weight lifting and more equipment to cover the 60% to 70% of people that go there especially when it's busy. For now I'm continuing to go as it's not really any better than what Places Gym was. Possibly slightly worse now that the whole of Sheffield goes there or what it seems like at times.

Really good gym with good equipment. Like that it’s 24 hours; the only downfall is it’s far too warm, the AC needs to be cooler, when you’re already working out and sweating you don’t need to be in an already humid place, other than that, can’t fault it.
