An excellent exhibition of times gone by. After paying, the person gave us a short talk on the place before entering the museum. Interactive challenges on the way round and many short videos. Spent a couple of hours looking around, well worth the admission money.

Went to the Swindogs & Swinpups exhibition at the Steam Museum today. This is the culmination of the Big Dog Art Trail where the statues (large and small) were distributed around Swindon for the whole town to enjoy. They’re now reunited for the last time this Saturday & Sunday 16th and 17th of September in the Steam Museum Annex where you can go and see them before they’re auctioned off to raise money for charity on the 19th September. Proceeds from the auction and the very reasonable £2.50 entrance fee to access the exhibition will go to Julia’s House children’s hospice and provide a lifeline of care for the most seriously ill children and their families.

Brilliant museum. It gives you a real insight into all aspects of the railways from back in the day. Lots of info on local things and people including the man himself Brunel. The interactive parts were a joy for me and my little one. Was quite pricey but the museum is very good.Conveniently located near a large shopping centre so food and coffee are not far away.Parking costs £2 for up to 5 hours in the designated car parks.

Lovely Museum! So Many Different Things To See Here! Very Informative And Brilliant For Children As There's Few Activities You Can Participate In!

A small museum with a good range of classic GWR locos and information about Swindon and their steam heyday. However, the exhibits look rather sad and unloved, the engines slowly deteriorating for the want of some tlc. A half day is enough.

Very good museum if you're into everything steam trains and the history of railway. Went to one of their Lego exhibitions, which was very impressive. Gift shop has a great range of products at reasonable prices, and very helpful, friendly staff

I was looking for a way to spend my afternoon during a rainy day and found this museum. I love railway museums and got the chance to visit few already. This one was really amazing! It focuses mainly on how the trains were made and explains the story of GWR. It’s very interesting! I love how the museum is immersive with so many decor and photo opportunity. We can even visit inside few trains like Victoria royal train. It’s a fantastic museum.

STEAM-punked: Rolling into Hilarity at Swindon's Loco-Mirth Museum!Hold onto your whistle, because our trip to STEAM in Swindon was a one-way ticket to the funniest station in town! Picture this: a Christmas market in an old train yard, stalls more tempting than a buffet cart at midnight, and laughter echoing louder than a runaway locomotive. All aboard the hilarity express!Navigating the museum was like riding the comedy caboose through time. The Truro-namentally fantastic train had us in stitches – I've never seen a locomotive wear a Santa hat with such panache. It was festive enough to make the North Pole jealous. Now, going under a train? It's not your typical Sunday stroll, but at STEAM, it's like doing the limbo with locomotives. I went from Mind the Gap" to "Mind the Undercarriage!" Forget tightropes; this is a real balancing act.The old GWR posters were a blast from the past

My wife and I visited here, no queuing to get in, £12.45 for 2 adult tickets. We spent about 2 - 3 hrs going around the museum. Very interesting to read about the history of the site and I was surprised at the size of the site back in its prime. If you have parked in the outlet car park then when you leave go to the reception and enter your vehicle registration and the parking fee is paid for you. Took a number of photos too many to share all of them here.
