Went in here for the first time since refurbishment. Good atmosphere and mix of people. Very reasonable prices and guy behind the bar was friendly and fast at serving. Would definitely go again.

HMMM. I've been visiting the Porter Cottage for over 20 years; it's always been a cracking pub. I went in last week and was shocked/disappointed at what I saw.What was once a 'local pub' has now been turned into a faceless, soleless bar. Literally - the old bar (that's probably been there for over 100 years) has been ripped out and replaced with some cheap (what looks like) old scaffold boards.Don't get me wrong I'm not against change; but this is one step too far.

We went for the pub quiz on the Tuesday, it was hard but sooo fun, such a good atmosphere, lots of people so get there early for a seat. Paid parking until 8:30 then it's free on street.

Very quiet pub so nice to go into for a quiet and chilled out drink. Was just under £5 for a single and around £7/£8 for a double gin.

Got ripped off by a small barmaid who tried to add her own drink on our tab and acted surprised when we called her out on it.Big fella with dark hair and beard made my girlfriend feel uncomfortable while serving her, told her he couldn’t be arsed to make her drink and then made creepy comments to her while acting like it was a chore doing his job and he was doing her a favour.A real hole since the refurb - avoid at all costsNo rizz

I don't mind the refurb and I've been drinking here occasionally since 1993. Beer is good value. Small courtyard too when the weather's good.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon when there was live music. Great singer, great atmosphere, apparently a regular thing. Good choice of beer with fantastic service.
