Medivet Pontefract

I do not recommend this vets’ practice. It used to be privately owned and you received personalised and sympathetic service and the vets put pet care first. They even sent you a condolences card when your pet died or had to be put down.However, now it’s become a chain company, they seem only to care about money. I was shocked at how every conversation started with money and costs rather than on veterinary care. Then, when they can't even save your pet, the first thing they talk about is how much you owe them which has to be paid there and then. No compassion or sympathy; just simply a money-making business to them. Prices are extortionate too. And every time we have been, it has been a different vet, so you can't build the relationship in the same way you could when it was a private practice. The way they dealt with us a client compounded the whole situation of losing our pet and made it much harder to come to terms with.

Friendly and helpful staff even carried my cat in for me because I had a bad back. Very calming and gentle with him as he was frightened

I am pretty sure they saved my beloved dogs life. Wonderful people.

Staff were great with me and our dog during our emergency visit. Our dog was in extreme pain and aggressive but staff were calming and gentle. He is recovering well.

Fantastic vets, no rip off unexpected prices, everything cost wise is totally made clear, they look after our dog and cat very well. I would also recommend the pet plan, we have this for our young dog and elderly girl cat, as security against check ups, flea, wormer and vaccines, worth every penny.

Had an appointment yesterday. the receptionist was most helpful. Unfortunately the Vet a lady Alexandra Palcheva was so rude and way above herself. I am 81 and deaf so struggled to hear what she said. every time i asked a question explaining i was struggling to hear she would take an obvious deep breath and say again. I never really understood much. so was a waste of time. She needs to go on a People skills course. Check whose on duty before you turn up. That is a problem here as they appear to use some sort of agency for staff so anyone could turn up so no continuity of service. Shame used to be great.Terry Armitage

Very helpful vet was really nice and very caring with my little westie Poppy. Never had a bad experience receptionists are really good too. I myself would definitely recommend them. Poppy has been going there from about 6 months. She is now 9. Thank you all staff at medivet Pontefract

What an absolute disgrace, charged £200 for examining both our cats for flee drops. Each examination only lasted 5 minutes!!!!. Hang your heads in shame. You wonder why the RSPCA are inundated with people handling their pets in because they can’t afford to look after them.

Usually have excellent communication and service, however, in the last 2 week you cannot get through on phone even though you get a text to say your pet is due treatment. What happened???
