Packed floor to ceiling with books, this shop is worth taking the time to browse properly.It stocks vintage books and maps, more modern books and graphic novels.The staff are quite friendly.

Amazing asset to have in a bustling area. Owner is super helpful and knows where everything is in these massive piles of books everywhere. Classics, history, politics, philosophy, big name series like Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Dune, Stephen King, Wheel of Time etc

Secondhand bookshops like this are a rarity these days. Thirty years ago there were four or five of this calibre in Sheffield, but the Porter Bookshop seems to be all there is in the city today.What makes it special is the quality and range of the books. Every shelf is literally overflowing with interesting and valuable titles, including a large of selection of used paperback classics, rare local history books and early collectible editions of works of both fiction and non-fiction.The shop is very small which means there is a certain degree of chaos, with boxes and piles of books balanced haphazzardly everywhere. I can spend hours digging through all these and a lot more money!Worth a trip to Sheffield for!

Impressive amount stock in such a small space. Floor to ceiling of quality mid to high brow literary content in many forms. Great atmosphere. Friendly proprietor. Fair prices. Highly recommended

Lovely little book shop.I always find it amazing that the owner can find your book amongst the stacks of books floor to ceiling and the owner of this shop saved me the search.It was equally nice to be able to introduce my daughter to a book shop like this and she was happy with her lot that we purchased.We'll be back.

Charming little book shop, reminiscent of Rare and Racy but without corporate overlords crushing the life out of it! A special place that deserves a look. Does comics as well has a decent paper back and supports independent musicians trying to promote themselves for a very reasonable price.

I've wanted to visit this well known and highly regarded shop for a long time. It did not disappoint! Excellent selection of titles the only criticism is that the shop could have been bigger. Very well located in the remarkably attractive urban village of Sharrow Vale. Highly recommended
