John and his team are the best builders we have worked with, having undertaken several extensions in the past.From a competitive quote and very quickly grasping what we were trying to achieve, through to on site, all day every day, his team have delivered an outstanding job for us.During the build phase, as with any renovation and extension, things can be less than straight forward. John and his team surmounted any issues without fuss and made constructive and very valuable suggestions for additions to our project which have hugely enhanced the result.Nothing was ever a bother, communication was excellent and John and his team were a great crew to have around the house for 6 months. We selected John and his company (from a number of competing contractors) to undertake a complex, detailed and total renovation of the very dilapidated nineteenth century house we had purchased. The works included the integration of existing outbuildings into an integral part of the main house.The contract agreed covered not only extensive building works and internal alterations, but also complete renewal and installation of electrical, plumbing and heating systems, together with information technology requirements, new bathrooms, and new kitchen and utility rooms with underfloor heating systems in those areas.Working in close cooperation with our architects to very demanding standards including the requirements of listed building consent, John's team carried out the required works to the standards required, demonstrating a great range of skills, expertise and commitment. Nothing was ever too much trouble to John and his team who reacted swiftly, competently and enthusiastically to the unexpected issues and problems which inevitably arise in the refurbishment of an old, dilapidated property.The works were completed to a very high standard, on budget, within a remarkably short timescale and to our entire satisfaction. We now have a beautifully restored home which is greatly admired by all who visit. John is currently building our new house and we've found his work to be first rate. He's had a lot of issues to overcome due to a tight site and some extremely difficult neighbours, but he's dealt with everything in a professional and polite manner. We'd highly recommend him.

We commissioned John to convert our garage to a 2-storey extension and a general renovation of the property. As the house is on the Isle of Arran this could have proved too difficult for many, from a logistical point of view, but John and his team did a fantastic job and the builders deployed worked hard, efficiently and to a high standard.

Cannot rate Lawrie Construction highly enough. The whole team went above and beyond to ensure the renovation of our Victorian Villa was finished to the highest of standards. We commissioned Lawrie Construction to build a single storey extension on our house to create a large kitchen/dining/living space. From the very start of the project, John and the team were absolutely first class. John identified the right architect and structural engineer to work with us on the project and he led that team expertly to create absolutely the right design for us. In the construction phase itself, John was as passionate about getting the details just right to the extent I doubt he'd have been any more so were it his own house being built - can't ask for more than that! All through the project I was delighted with the regular communications with John where we'd discuss progress, details and options as we went along. There were no hidden surprises on the cost front as you often see with builders and any changes from the original quote were only because I asked for a specification change (which again was dealt with so well). Overall I can't speak highly enough of John and the team at Lawrie Construction - the quality of the operation from start to finish speaks for itself. Why would you go anywhere else?! We had the opportunity to build our new home on a plot in Biggar and we worked with John Lawrie Construction. We had never built a house before and right from the start we found John very professional and helpful. John guided us through the whole process and we could not thank or praise him enough.John's team were excellent and their attention to detail was fantastic - in particular the stone work was perfect and admired by many people. The overall standard of work was excellent as was the quality and finish of the build. Throughout the process John kept us up to date and communication was excellent.
