Amazing self defense classes. What my daughter learned in the short time we could make the sessions has been invaluable. The instructors are extremely helpful and informative. Communication with them was excellent. I highly recommend these classes. (FYI...my daughter was in the 11+ group)

Darren is an excellent instructor whose lessons I’ve attended as a student and an instructor. He is friendly, professional and cares about your learning experience. He has fantastic knowledge, is humble, understands how to teach real life defences while maintaining safety, but also makes it fun. He has visited my self-defence club and assisted with gradings and regular class many times. All of my students loved these experiences.Couldn’t rate Darren highly enough.

I contacted Evolve Self Defence about Private Sessions for my teenage daughters. I have one about to go off to University in another part of the country. No doubt about it initially I contacted them for my own anxieties about my daughter moving away from home but what they have gained is more than I could have hoped for. Darren meets with them once a week, together. This was particularly helpful because with one 15 and one 18 they couldn’t have been a class together.The private sessions have brought them closer together as step sisters, they have grown in confidence and gained life skills.It’s strange but when I thought about self defence I was thinking I wanted them to learn to handle themselves should they, god forbid, find themselves in a difficult situation and while they are learning skills to defend themselves more importantly they are learning how not to find themselves in these situations in the first place. What an amazing place to start because actually I would much rather they could recognise early on when a situation could be dangerous than when they are stood opposite someone about to mug them or attack them.It’s been lovely to watch them learn to play again while learning the skills to stay safe and what I mean by that is they have been given permission to let go and relax, scream, shout and then if needs be defend themselves.They were so cross with me when I asked them to take these sessions but no doubt about it every week they are buzzing with pride and confidence at what they have achieved and learned.Darren has tailored the sessions to cover exactly what is needed for them both, working with them to ensure they have understood his instructions and repeating the skill over so it becomes second nature to them.My only regret is that I wish I had got them involved years ago. I highly recommend these privately tailored sessions in observing and defending when needed for safety.

Darren provided professional, effective, age-appropriate self-defence training to my teenager. The session started with awareness and street smarts then progressed to practical skills. Would highly recommend.

First rate & very knowledgeable Instructor!Have known the head Instructor for years, and can honestly say your kids couldn't find a better self-defence teacher in the area. Your children will learn all aspects of reality self-defence in a fun, and safe environment helping them to improve so many aspects of their lives. Physical fitness, mental wellbeing improved self-esteem and confidence and the chance to make new friends. I've sought the Instructor's insights and knowledge on many occasions, and had him over to my club to grade my child students.Darren is conscientious hard working, very skilled in what he teaches, and most importantly, a great guy!

Brilliant class! My daughter looks forward to it every week. Darren makes the lessons fun, exciting and very enjoyable but they are very informative and teach not only very positive life lessons but how to deal with difficult or dangerous situations in the best way possible. Teaches kids how to keep themselves safe and to spot and avoid dangers but most importantly how to handle themselves if ever attacked. And of course, great for fitness and making new friends! Highly recommended!

The one to one sessions were brilliant, Darren was very patient, explained everything well and made it good fun. I learned some great skills, and would highly recommend them.
