A knitting friend introduced me to Countess Ablaze a few years ago, when I purchased the softest super chunky wool ever. They provided inspiration during lockdown and are welcoming to all. Their online community is supportive and engaging. Indie businesses have always been the beating heart of Manchester and the Countess and her team we are keeping that faith.

Countess Ablaze yarn is consistently beautiful, and the customer service is absolutely excellent. The team is lovely. Countess yarn was my first posh hand dyed yarn, but they have never felt elitist and I love how they live their values. Just gorgeous.

Undoubtedly the best small business yarn dyer from which I’ve bought yarn. The yarn itself is great quality, the dyeing results in super saturated colours, and orders are posted quickly and efficiently. There’s also a good selection of notions. Highly recommended.

Countess Ablaze yarn is magnificent! The shop is well run by thoughtful staff who are always willing to help with ideas for everyone from newbies to experienced crafters. The cheeky yarn names and vibrant colors mean this is not what comes to mind when the media evokes images of knitting grannies (though I'm sure they would find something to love here as well!). There are multiple types of accessibility and they've done a really excellent job of being transparent about how they protect their workers and clients, during the recent pandemic and beyond.
