First time had been here as needed something decent to eat between the airport I'd finished and a later pickup in the area. Baring in mind I did not have a reservation for what appeared to be a fully booked place, they still had a table for me. Place seems very upmarket but was absolutely lovely. I ordered the sea bream and a Pepsi max. The fish and sides were to die for. Absolutely the best fish dish I have tasted. They even had a fridge showing off their cuts of steak which looked absolutely beautiful.

Lovely place to grab a nice meal. Staff were friendly and the food was good. Your typical pub style but a bit more fancy! They do some really nice cuts of steak as-well if you’re willing to pay! It was two for one on Burgers when I went and they were both lovely! Only downside is it doesn’t have its own parking so you have to faff about finding somewhere to stick the dinger.

We went here for the restaurant only, where we had steak meals. They were perfectly cooked with a great flavour. Service was excellent. Lovely wine and finished with cocktails.Nice room and table layout too.

Pros - very characterful building with lovely atmosphere. Room was spacious, and we'll appointed with decor in keeping with the age of the building. Breakfast choices were vast ie summer fruits, nuts / seeds/ coconut, sourdough toast, cereals, croissants, as well as cooked options. English breakfast was a generous portion and absolutely delicious. Hosts were attentive / helpful with good friendly conversation.Cons - parking is a public car park a short distance away, but is not free for residents. Room was mostly clean, however the coffee machine had limescale in and around the water container, and cobwebs from the chandelier. Toilet flush didn't work properly. Quite a lot of noise from the courtyard in the evening, and a 'discussion' going on by staff (?) in the morning.Overall, very impressed with the hotel.

Only went for a family dinner, but the service was excellent. The food was superb, with a varied menu. These things, together with the location in the beautiful City of Salisbury, makes it a definite target for return.Thank you.

Busy, you must book in advance. An interesting menu with dishes I had never had before. Mainly South African. Tasty good quality food well presented. They also offered a cheese board, although it was a disappointing cheese selection. Friendly informal atmosphere.

Very bad experience. We had booked a table to celebrate my wife's birthday three weeks ahead. We were flying from the U.S. after a long-haul flight and jet lagged. When we arrived we were given a table facing the restrooms. We asked for another table but they had nothing available. We asked if they could shut the door of the restrooms (which was wide open) but they said they couldn't.Since we were not offered any other solution we left without dining.

My partner and I stayed here during our wedding, along with most of our friends and family. This place is amazing - the 1500s building is mostly original, with winding staircases and leaning walls - but the rooms and amenities are modern. We had a soaking tub in the middle of our room, and a very comfortable bed. The staff were professional but also very friendly, and always happy to help with anything extra. They arranged a rehearsal dinner and reception for us and the food was incredible. The sticky-toffee pudding we had for dessert was one of the best things I've eaten.Could not recommend this place more. Thank you for a great stay!

Great service, great atmosphere and steak’s delicious. Only negative was vegetarian options. Risotto and pasta is a cop out for a vegetarian option and when you’re spending circa £50 a head for a meal out you expect more than that. Re-think your veggie option as they’re very often the person who chooses where to go!
