Shiloh and Mark did an amazing job. I have been coming in since December and I have watch this place improve ten fold. You did an amazing job guys. Joe has always been on his knees working on something and the determination you guys have is superb. well done lads.

Absolutely amazing service. Joe and Mark had made our night out. They welcomed us with open arms and gave us complimentary drinks to celebrate the hen night! Would recommend the big jug to anyone who's looking for good staff, clean bar and unbelievable service.

A little run down but bar staff are friendly enough. It is only busy on a Friday and Saturday evening when they have a live band or disco, the rest of the week sadly it is pretty empty and totally under used probably due to the price of the drinks/lack of choice and being more expensive than the competition and them not serving food like the rest of the pubs in the locality. It is really sad how a few homely touches pictures of bygone Durham and county Durham and a lick of paint would revitalise this pub and make people want to go in again even the snooker/pool table disappeared and now that Durham has no snooker club they could be cashing in on that demand by local people. The toilets are sadly upstairs and not wheelchair accessible and the staircase is not for those with vertigo as you can see the floor below going up and down.

Very overpriced. £4.65 for 60cl of coke, apparently don't do pint glasses and a half lime and soda. Normally I would pay £1.50. Very run down, female toilets were clean, but out of the 3 available, 1 didn't have a toilet seat, 2 doors wouldn't shut or lock. The full place was very threadbare and certainly in need of a refurbishment, possibly the overcharging will pay for this. Certainly didn't give tourist a good impression. In need of a lot of TLC and price review. Certainly won't go there again.

Friendly barman. A haven of peace at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon where all the pubs in Durham are packed and a free table is a rarity.

Friday's live rock band night and Saturdays disco dance night with Ben dj. Beer always in good form with deep cellar. At least 1 guest real ale. Quick service at the bar.

Could do with a refurb but a down to earth pub used by locals. Great music from every decade and staff pleasant

Really gone downhill recently. Don't mind that the place is desperate need of updating but it has now become unacceptably scruffy, some staff are pleasant but others are extremely rude. Shame because the band's on Friday were really good and the di on on Saturday night is cracking but I won't be going back til it's had a good clean. The toilets are minging and the glasses your drinks are served in stink

Perfect service from Mark and Shiloh, very friendly and polite. Is in need of a slight renovation however has definitely tidied itself up and is a working progress.
